kings vs pedders

It seems like most of you on the forums use king springs compared to pedders, is there any particular reason most of you use the kings instead of pedders, because pedders has some dealers in the usa so I can get them probably around $100 or $200 cheaper over all, are the pedders heavy duty standard height springs not as stiff so they compress easier or are they not as tall as the standard height heavy duty kings. Or are kings cheaper over in Australia, or are kings just better quality. what are the pros and cons

Thanks in advance for your opinions and info

I think there is very little difference. One is red, the other yellow ;)

I think there have been mixed views posted here over the years about both of them. Vincentvega's comment I think sums it up well though. Both brands are made here. Kings are listed in catalogues as not being compatible with some shock absorbers for fitment. ie. don't fit with Monroe shocks that the same seller might offer you. I went for Pedders all 'round on mine and I'm happy. Both brands are 30% stiffer springs, both giving a harder ride, better load capacity, and a little more height (about 1 inch - perhaps more on the back until you get a load aboard). I got Pedders "Comfort Gas" shocks to go with the springs so that I had some pliability off road while retaining good on road handling. I Australia, Pedders cost a lot more but come with a better warranty.

All up, my advice is if you're going for trips with only a little bit of gear and a couple of people then leave the springs and shocks standard. you'll get better wheel articulation (better ride and grip). If going on longer trips with a good boot load full then go for the stiffer springs. I've got a spare car that I'm going to try changing shocks/springs over from for different trips. Most don't have that luxury.

Anyone here tried that before? There must be a few.

And they are the same shock absorber as Monroe..........

I have Pedders Springs front & rear on my wagon with KYB front struts & Monroe rear shock absorbers. On my RX i have Kings.

There is very little difference between the two brands (King & Pedders)
Its who has the best price....

Really!...I hadn't heard that? Is that the same for the GSR's? I've got those on my Torana and there's Pedders stamped into the dang things.

Who builds the pedders foam cell shocks for the 'real 4wds' then ?

Why?
Worried you might have actually bought a Monroe?

Not overly. They haven't got bang like the powerdowns. Everyone owns everyone else in the motor industry anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if more than monroe, pedders and rancho come from tennco-walker.
