rear lift kit idea
rear lift kit idea
Just a little idea I was thinking about earlier today, wonder what people might think of it...stupid or not?
Example - 3" lift kit.
Typically with the rear part of our lift kits, the diff hanger (or moustache bar) is spaced down 3 inches on both sides, the diff is still bolted to the diff hanger in the usual way.
The trouble I have with this is that the whole diff hanger and diff remains at stock height, I used to hit it on rocks fair frequently and actually bent one as a result.
My idea is instead of spacing the whole diff hanger bar down, leave it in the standard position, and space the rear diff down by using a piece of faily thick metal plate. This way only the diff remains at stock height. The diff hanger bar itself is way up there 3" higher than normal with the rest of the body.
The exhaust pipe would have to be modified angle wise just before the rear muffler....any other issues you can see?

Have a look at this site http://www.sjrlift.com/.Look at the 3" diff drop plate its alloy but you could make something similar out of steel.
