Offroad '00 Forester

Post by SKT » Sat May 31, 2008 10:55 pm

So.... the old donk was gettin grey so I did some work....

Replaced the old auto with a manual, 2.0l with an '05 2.5l with Lib smarts...

Had a snorkel sorted too.....

The manual was fitted with an uber low Scorpion set-up... 33% apparently... feels pretty damn low to be honest. Works well... Its no screamer and has more bark than bite due to the 2.5" from the cat back but it's turned a few heads offroad and left some big trucks thinking they'd been invaded by aliens or something... just gotta keep the feet on the ground. The Scorpion bodlift and Kings give it a good chance offroad and the Kings have improved body roll and general stability quite a bit. There's a few others like a fan cut switch and ABS cut out.... throw in some comms and GPS and its an all round pony. It's really built to get me out of trouble not into trouble.. although I have a habit of looking for it :-(

So here it is.........

SKT Welcome to the forum, that looks like one well set up Forester you have there.
If your in Qld you should join the Subaru 4wd club of Qld I think you would enjoy some of the trips we do.

Hi Scott, Al from Noosa here.

Looking good mate, hope you are enjoying the car after it's repower.
You're in WA now yes?
Cheer. Al.

nice car

Thats a great looking car. love the bullbar and the sump gaurd and that lower gear ratio must make big difference. i had my liberty gearbox rebuilt by Scorpion and really wanted to get the lower gearing but couldnt spend the extra cash at the time. i definately will next time. that seems to be my biggest problem off road going from MY and L series subies to the new breed is taking off in really soft sand without the old school low range.
My dad has a forester but a GT and i think that will be my next vehicle but with the same mods you made.

Looks great...

Hey Al..... yeah in Perth now.... lookin for some trouble to get into.....

The car went like a dream bro..... I cleaned the filter and got a tune on arrival and the mech said all was sweet. Did some neat rock hoppin into Explosion Gorge (El Questro). The low range is sweet. Thx heaps for the job mate.

Looks good. One day I hope to be able to afford a newer Subie. Certainly better then a Rav4
