K&N Panel filter VS paper filter
Finally got around to buying a K&N panel filter for my car and just thought i would let people know what i thought.
for a while now i have just been buying paper filters for $10.00, but i thought i would fork out and try a K&N.
Well what a difference!! the car seems to pull heaps smoother and seems to hit boost quicker as well, also much smoother power of the hiway as well.
car is a liberty with EJ20t, Gen 2 air box and cast pre turbo inlet pipe
my 2 c.

Ive noticed K&N filter was better than standard filter. People have cringed that it'll leave oil resistance on the map sensor. But I haven't had a problem yet. Ive cleaned the filters a few times now.

I've been using the K&N panel filter in my NA '92 ej22 for over a year now. In the summer I 'charge' it when I change my oil (about every 5k) as I spend a lot of time on dirt roads, often in convoy. I find I get a better note from the exhaust, a slight but noticeable increase in power, and my fuel efficiency hovers around 9L/100. Be wary of over oiling the panel, it inhibits airflow and puts oil on the MAP (?) sensor.
Definitely a good way to increase efficieny and power in a NA engine, and the million mile warrenty is nice to...
Owen.

maf is the air flow meter right?
ive been wondering if i should put the K&N filter in,
but i've been told from specialist subi mech's that i should only the the EOM filter for my turbo foz? as the K&N will let the engine perform better, but it sint fine enough for the Air flow meter (as i know it) and will just shorten the life of the AFM condiserably?
since i now have put a snorkel on, which sucks in cleaner colder air, instead of air from the engine bay,
am i better off with K&N or stick with genuine subaru?

I have heard that it shortens the life.
I have heard a lot of horror stories about
pod filters but that is not to say it's the design
of the Pod that does it but the oil from all oiled
filter.
They would be ideal and better in a MAP only sensed
setup but do not offer the same filtration as tradtional
filters in my experience and opinion
just my 2 bob
cheers
