All we know is it is at Townsville and the insurance is doing a total loss claim on it. There is more to it than that but we don't know the details just yet.

I feel for you outback bloke. That sh!t makes me really angry. I'd love to see that on A current Affair. I have a serious offroad boat/camper set up that was home made and tough. The builder used the "treg" Poly block hitch for securing to the car and I can emphatically back this product and if thier other products are as good they are well on the way to good reviews.

Keep us updated.

Cheers Chris

It has been officially written off. We are now in negotiations with the insurer as they are trying to pay us far less than what we paid for it.

That sucks big time! So Trek are still able to keep their pride and continue to dodge up these trailers that people pay a small fortune for only then to have them written off?!

Regardless of what sort of vehicle is towing the trailer, their product should be up to a standard that will last the distance for years to come, not be wrecked due to poor construction materials or what not a month after it rolls out the factory door...

If the trailer was that flimsy in the first place I'm sure you could still bend it with only 20 psi in the tyres.

That's mega disappointing OB - more so on the insurance side of things as they didn't persue the matter with Trek til Trek fixed their own problem.

Here is another quote from the trek website....
These trailers have made it and back to the Cape, Gib River Road, the Kimberly's and the Simpson dessert to name a few
wonder how many of them made that return trip on the back of a truck too.

Christ almighty they even buggered up their website I know the Simpson Desert is nice to visit at certain times of the year but I don't think it tastes that good.

very very rude so it was only a few weeks old I would be questioning the insurance company maybe get a second opinion by an automotive engineer. But I would also be writing to the manager of trek stating every single issue you came across and how dissapointed you are in their product or even show them this thread. because each time you talk to someone odds are its someone new.
87 targa brumby (Neglected),
92 targa brumby (weekend runabout),
97 Lifted Outback (Dailey drive),
05 outback safety (Too cheap to pass up),
90 model liberty (was to be scrapped instead sold to workmate)
+ others.

I have tried contacting the owner of Trek again today. I think she knows our phone number and will not answer. So I have put it all in writing and sent her a copy. I have requested that they compensate us for the short fallings of the insurance and have stated that we are willing to take legal action to recoup our money.

Maybe it is now Today Tonight/A Current Affair time? Might be the only way to get things sorted out.

They have just run a story on the exploding JEEPS so a trailer story would also get some attention I think and the more unsatisfied owners you can give them as possible contacts the better chance of having the story run I'd say.

Anyone got an opinion on these?

Seems light, perfect for subaru towing.

Very expensive

Although, you think trailers would have advanced beyond a box on wheels but.

And as for re: TT or ACA - no-one really cares - is what is called in the industry 'infotainment' - blend between information and entertainment...nothing better than two neighbors with no teeth fighting over 6 inches of fence line!!

The demographic who actually pays attention to ACA / TT are not buyers of campers worth $15K++. Therefore = little impact.
