I don't quite see the logic of buying a $400 headunit if you're happy with what you can pick up for $80.

That Does Look like a pretty sweet ducks nuts set up, im in the middle of putting my old kenwood head unit in, ive gotta get a bracket/facia for it, but was also thinking of chocking it in with MDF on one side and some PVC piping on the other to make a cheap make shift Drink Holder since its the one feature that the L-series is seriously lacking :D

Why be serious about sound in an L series?

Besides, not all of us are interested in wasting money on things that cost nearly as much as the car.

Andrew

I was thinking of spending a whole $12.29 AU on this

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/270831510607 ... 1423.l2649

and mounting it as a head unit, then plugging an MP3 player with a 16 gig micro SD card in it and never bother about loading a cd again.

I believe it would last at least a week before it decided to do nothing but make a hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm noise :) and then release the blue smoke of not working.

only one way to find out :)

but Alex I have heard what you listen to and it wants to make me rip my ears off.

The great thing about the music I love listening to is that it is already distorted :)

I just put a 4 channel 400W amp running one 12" 150w RMS sub, 2 pioneer 6x9 speakers all in a box and 2 4"s speakers at the front into my bunky L series (ei not my lifted, EJ22 one ;) ) The reason simply, I got hold of everything over time and for less than $150. This is the first time ive had more than just the speakers at the front in a car and its better than it was.. but i know it still sounds crap compared to a decent set up haha. I did it just so i can say i know a little bit more about subs, amps and speakers than i did before, mind you only scratching the surface but without going nuts on $$. It also means i can gradually get something better over time if i want to :D

I was brought up listening to classical music and the wild irish rovers (dad) and elvis neil diamond and a few italian guys whos names i still can't pronounce (mum) as well as led zepplin, the doors, deep purple, ac/dc, pink floyd, crosby, stills, nash and young and all those guys on thier own or in other bands. I loved the true punk era not that green day style crap thats out there now, as for metal I have listened to bands that have endured for over 20 years and others that have only been around for 2-3 years I have a soft spot for slayer, the dead kennedys, SOAD, korns first 3 albums, metallica before the black album, TOOL, a perfect circle, sepultura, brujeria, nailbomb, channel zero, down, blood duster, damaged, at the gates, disturbed. to name just a few and lets not forget cyprus hill and run dmc

Nobody here probably would have heard of anything I listen to, it's probably what everyone's parents (grandparents for me and brumby kid) would have listened to...back in the 30's and 40's

No real point in me splashing out on amps and woofers, there's no real bass in vintage jazz

Wrong Jessica by the allman brothers. Whatever dad listins to. Watch, Crosby stills nash and young. Dylan, AC/DC, pink floyd. Van morrison, Led Zeplin, CCR, Crowded house, Jimmy Barnes and chisel. So yeah.
