Post by jamesd » Mon Aug 23, 2010 5:59 pm

$500 for labour only? Are you supplying the hardware? If so, what hardware combination? Or $500 for supply and fit?

More details = better answers!

I was thinking about $500 all up or maybe a bit more but $750 would prob be the limit.

You are gonna have to describe the parts that are shot.

Any car with 200k kms is gonna show signs of wear, but it depends on what sort of life its had.

A basic engine service is a good place to start.

Oil filter and oil change
New air filter
Spark plugs and leads
Change gearbox oil and diff oil.

A engine at 200k km is likely to need its timing belt and water pump changed, and while you are at it, flush the radiator and add new coolant

A good wax and polish to bring back its original shine then give the interior a good clean and maybe add a set of seat covers

This will possibly cost you the best part of $500

After that 4 new strut/shock absorbers as well as new bushes would fix the suspension

No I think his talking about stereos! But where in sydney are you? I would recommend a professional stereo shop as thats all they do so will almost always do a better job! but i would recommend a head deck speaker package!

Ah, yeah - I was talking about a stereo. I know a bit about cars and have already gone thru most of the mechanical stuff (just looking to do the shocks/springs/bushes now).

Anyone reccomend a particular installer? I am in Darlinghurst but can travel.
