1800 wiring

Post by TheInterceptor » Mon Oct 25, 2010 11:21 am

Gday, does anybody know about the OEM AM radio wiring?
Im about to wire in my new stereo but have hit a road block. Ive IDed only 3 out of the 6 wires in the OEM plug loom.

So yeh, Ive gotten this far with a test light:
Red, blue dot = Illumination (gets power when lights are turned on)
Blue, white trace = Accessories
And black would be ground.

The wires in question that have me stumped are:
Yellow, brown dot.
Red, green trace.
White, brown dot.

I know two of the three mystery wires are the + & - of the oem speaker, dont know which though.

And i take it theres no constant, so id have to run my own with a fuse. What fuse though? 10a fuse?

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers

I ran a wire down from the constant power of the clock above.

Just run your own speaker wires, as the factory ones have a common ground, and this will cause the aftermarket head unit to overheat.

My car is an 1800 MY series, sorry bout that.
So, i dont have a clock nor any speakers, or anywhere to put them... (getting that sorted though!).
Im going to run a constant direct from the battery with a 15a inline fuse to the new stereo. And just try and sus out the speaker wires i suppose. It would help if i knew how to get the the lone dash speaker so i can see the cable colours.
Going to be running my own speaker wires since they dont exist :)

Still wondering what that last wire is for though..
thanks anyway mate.
