03 Outback H6 6-CD indash player broken

Hi Guys, does anyone know how to fix a broken 6 CD indash changer on my 2003 Outback 3.0R? It does not work at all, I am in Melbourne and rang Subaru service who quoted over $2500 to have it sent off to be repaired. Surely must be a better way, look forward to hearing your advice!!!

depending on whats wrong with it, it may be cheaper and easier to get it replaced with an aftermarket one...
