Damaged door speaker

OK, anyone else ever been doing something and in your mind you are saying "if I keep doing this (insert obvious end result) will happen" but you keep doing it anyway ?

Well just now while prying off the facia cover of a door speaker for the L series I thought "if I keep doing this the screwdriver will definately slip and go through the speaker cone"

Anyway, after the obvious happened and I said "Flock" (or a word to this effect. I didnt want to teach the dog any bad language) I extracted the screwdriver from the speaker cone and had a look. No too bad, a bit of a hole only.
I have tried Google for a solution and came up with finger nail polish to glue the flaps of the tear back together. Has anyone tried this or what about Superglue, or in my case Loctite 401.
Thought I would ask before looking again like an idiot and asking the wife for clear nail polish

Yesterday - almost had an episode of grinding through a brake line while working on Ruby Scoo's major overhaul project... Got lucky with that one!

I know there have been others, but they've all been forgotten.

Another one of mine comes to mind.
I was loading the trailer (not attached to the car) with junk and thinking if I keep going it is going to tip backwards.
I course it did onto my foot. If I hadnt been wearing steel capped boots I would have no toes and part of a foot missing on one of my feet.
Very serious reminder to be safe at home and/or work.

P.S I got my wife to buy some clear nail polish so I didnt end up looking like a suss idiot.

Yeah we've all done things like that... except me of course, lol

I have heard the nail polish thing works. I'm guessing dont use too much so it doesnt throw the cone out of balance

I am guessing you have a hole in the speker cone and want to glue it back together.
If so I would recomend Thick CA. Or "Zap a Gap" Zap being the brand of CA.

Be sure to get thick, you don't want thin that's for sure, it's almost thinner than water

Thanks for the info everyone.
The speaker I "damaged" is a 6", round, 30W type. $15.00 a pair from the wreckers.
The new stereo needs a minimun 40W so I dont turn the volume up too much.
I will be posting the difference between the standard L series, single under the dash speaker, AM/FM only radio compared to the new unit shortly in the "What did you do to your Subaru today" thread. Was going to do it today but had to put new rear shocks (at 141,000ks) into the wifes mobile money pit so wont be able to do anything more tonight.
