Alpine gear ...
Had a look at this Alpine Marine unit :
I like some of the features ( it's water proof ) & it sorta of fits in with the peroid features of a Brumby + comes with a nifty remote ...
Hmm, wonder where I can fit it ?
+ Time for some power :
I'm thinking of getting two, one PDX-1.600M for Sub + run the Cap of it & another PDX-4.100M for doors ...
++ Somthing like this SWR-M100 to run off the Sub :
+++ How about something for listing externally like a SPR-M700C ?

youre right about getting speakers which you personally prefer.niterida wrote:
I have just done that and the JL Audio speakers at $1100 sounded worse than cheap JVC's at $149. My personal preference was for Hertz HSK - very good bass response.
I ended up buying Hertz copies from ebay - $130 delivered - and they are very well made and you can not tell them apart form the real thing
BUT, i disagree with you 150% about the hertz speakers. Im running GENUINE hsk 165s front stage in my liberty with focal polyglass splits in the back doors.
my mate also has the fake HSK hertz speakers which i installed for him, not even margianally close to the real deal. The bass these things can produce almost takes away the need for a sub.
With capacitors Bantum, theyre really only useful when youre running well over 1000W RMS. You can get a bigger battery(which youll need anyway) and the capacitor is useless.
If youre serious about the sound your getting, id recommend dynamatting your doors. The PDX series of amps youre looking at are fairly high end and its worth going the full hawk if youre using really good gear. I cant recommend alpine amps highly enough, the quality youre getting, even if theyre not overly cheap is great.
This is how i dynamatted up my Hertz speakers...bits everywhere i know, but its all about getting it as sealed as possible.

Not sure what you mean - are you saying the fakes are crap and are too bassy ?Alex wrote:BUT, i disagree with you 150% about the hertz speakers. Im running GENUINE hsk 165s front stage in my liberty with focal polyglass splits in the back doors.

I haven't fitted mine yet - was just going on other peoples experiences on a car audio forum (one of the posters actually runs the forums and does comparisons for a living and he said he couldn't tell they were fakes).

Build wise the fake HSKs looked the same, the voice coil is smaller though. Sound wise, they aren't for me.
The bass I was referring too is in regard to the genuine speakers, theyre an exceptional piece of equipment for the price (think I paid around $450, they were a new model at the time)
Im not judging what people think sound good though. Everyone has their own preference and I think people should stick to what they like.

Hi Jacked ?
This come's to mind - I should get one ...
Well im a fan of my rockford fosgates same thing I have a sub for my brumby but its almost never in there as the 6.5 splits have plenty of bass and fortunately the tweeters mount anywhere because with the roof off it gets quite noisy at 120. Oh and a local car stereo store refuses to sell rockford because he doesn't like them but has only ever seen or used the budget ones whereas another store the other side of town swears by them and has them in his personal car, So the moral to the story is listen to the set up you are putting in as oposed to the one you think your putting in!
End my Hack (But mum everyone else is doing it)

Update ...
Ok - I've managed to find a pic with the very last bit of work done :
Note : I've marked out a double DIN size to see what it would look like ...
I also found out Samsung have now done a 8'' note book that looks about right size, might have a go at it :
More details here ...
Edit : I measured it out on the face plate and it does fit, but overhangs at bottom ...
Cheers, Bantum ...

Door Layouts ...
Some layout pictures of doors :
Notes : I've plugged the old hole for the window winder, ready for relocating the 'new' electric window switch & roughly marked out speaker location ready for new grill ...
+ yep the lights were converted to LED ( see link ) & they are Liberty Gen 1 ? Door pockets ...
Link to LED Page : showthread.php?t=22456
Not sure if I'll end up using the full grill as doesn't quite fit ...
Note : The 6" speaker is about 2-3cm bigger than the grill shown, hence the need for customising ...
That's about as far as I got so far ...
Cheers, Bantum ...

Looks good mate. I like the door card layout you're going with - and I reckon those map pockets look awesome. The lights on the end of them are a nice touch too, I'm guessing you'll be hooking them up to the door switch? Individually or both to come on with the interior light?
And where'd you score an amp for nix??
Cheers

Found ...
Its amazing what people throw out - Just 'found' the amp on foot path, haven't tested it yet to see if works ...
( Although I suspect it may have been abused, I can't see / smell any burnt circuits )
The door latch covers were painted by PO ( in vinyl paint ? ) - So not so good on closer inspection ... ;(
Pocket lights are intended to run of new circuit that could be switch by either doors or the main cabin light - haven't got round to the wiring in bits as yet.
