i dont know which i should get first to go with my existing alipne MP3 head unit and front kenwood splits, and kenwood amp that is on its way from eastern states.

ive had my heart set on a sub ever since i got a car but im worried then ill have like no midrange, or should i go the 6x9's and then maybe not get the bass im after?
or save up more and get it all?

Mid range will depend on the rest of the system... Alex has 6 by nines... i just got sub... i can give u a demo... or we both can with the same song perhaps.

Depends on how much bass your after really... 6 by 9s will be good enough for most people if positioned and mounted properly... nothing beats a nice tight sub in the right size box though.

It's all about how u like your music really.

I got pioneer deck, with 6" fronts, got poineer yellow cones 6x9 goin in, and 12" sub with 600w amp running the speakers and 760w bridged running the sub. U will get ok bass with some 6x9's but when u hear the difference between 6x9's and a sub- u will want a sub. i went 4 boxes with the 6x9's so's i could take em out 4 camping or severe offroading.

all in all go with the lot
it might take some time but will be worth it.

Id go 6x9's before a sub for balance. Ive heard cars with standard speakers and subs and they sound horrible, way to bassey.

I would also look at getting splits for the back then a sub and a good crossover, just an idea but professional (home) speakers are built this way.
6x9's give a lot of bass for there size but you probably dont need it if your going to use a sub. Id think you would get better midrange and highs with splits.

Yeah i had a sub for a while, it became annoying after a week.
BTW... 6x9s behind the drivers seat are awesome.

Alpine Type R 6 by 9's have pretty damn good bass, especially with an amp and some sealed enclosures. Pricey though

Matt i will talk to you on MSN about this ... i dissagree with alot of whats been said here. I know my shit and have trophies to prove it. I can save you a LOT of money with not buying a system that is way overkill for what u want.

im 99% sure those front speakers r just 6" 3 or 2 ways, not splits- if they were splits the tweeter would be split from the main body of the speaker- please correct if im wrong anyone.

LOL...

um yes splits do have a seperate tweeter, and woofer...a two way speaker(ie the woofer and tweeter built into one speaker is called a co-axial speaker etc etc)

listen to subarino... i agree with him, my 2 cents would be seeing that you are after Mid range would be to get a nice pair of 6" again or go the 6x9's but listen to them they will all make noise but it is how nice the mid and top end will sound will make the greatest difference, i have a around 6g worth of stereo in my panno and i have focal splits for the mid to hi and then a pair of alpine s-type 6x9's for rear fill and accompinant of the mid range, i find they are a really nice speaker and work even runnign off a head unit. where you munt them will make a big diference,

At the end of the day you can get a sub later on but if you put up with a drone now you will not be happy and your ears will tune to it and u wont enjoy it... but then some ppl here might have a few good tricks up their sleeves...
