Ok, I wish to get a sound system happening for dad for his birthday (which has been and gone).

I wish to get 2x 12" SUBWOOFER, 1200W MAX

And what head-unit would be reccommended.
I am also getting 2 XHP 6" 3-WAY SPEAKER, 180W MAX...

...and 2 6X9" (16X24CM) 3-WAY MAX POWER HANDLING

What amp(s) would I need to power them?
What head-unit would I be best using?

Sony make really suck-worthy in car electronics.

If it was my money I would be using these brands: clarion, alpine, pioneer, kenwood.

I would use 2x10" subs instead of 12's, in a well setup box the 10's will give you just as much punch but will have much clearer bass and better response.

I would run the 6's and the 6x9's off the head unit and the subs from an amplifier, probably a 4 channel that supports bridging down to 2 mono channels and run a sub of each of those.

Unless you looking to go insanely loud you don't really need an amp to power you're main speakers, any head unit that puts out around 50W/channel (which is any half decent one) will do the job.

This is my opinion and what I would do with my money.

If I had a little extra to through around I'd have splits in the front.

Thanks for that Jordan.

I will have a look around and see how much it will cost me.

I successfully increased my industrial deafness by using a pioneer deh1450 hedaunit, pair of 4" pioneer splits, a jaycar response 2ch amp and 10" sub....
