hey bluesteel
looks like a really good setup youve got there i had a geez at you site a while ago excellent job and plenty of pics. well done

theres a couple of pics of mysetup here.
The 12's fit in perfectly between the arches and theres still plenty of room for the bodyboards/bags to fit in.

I've got:
Blown up no name headunit.
35Wx2 no name amp.
2x4" Clarions in the doors.
140Wx1 Alpine amp fixed to sub box.
12" Pioneer sub in custom box behind drivers seat.
in my Brat.... ok, I'll call it a Brumby for ya people who dont know yet.
Also I have a custom mount made up for my PDA so I can play music and movies on the 3.5" screen, covers up the clock though... Looking at changing placement of it and making it easier to put in and remove so I dont have to leave it in the car.
(A UTE!) lol...

I have a few pics from my past stereo installs in my Subaru... i wont go into too much detail... only things i wanted to point out is...

Yes i have won stereo contests with some of these and that the white fibre glass sub box had a built in security door that covered over both the subs when i turned the stereo off. It was made from a power window motor. Also i made every part of it myself.

More pics can be supplied including construction pics. The fibre glass system ran at a wooping 142.4DB.

Enjoy.

Thats pretty awesome Dave.
The only question I have is. If I fitted something like this in my Suba could I still fit 3 bales of hay in the luggage area?

Thats what roof racks are for.

The entire systems weighed so much that it actually cost me an extra $10 a week in fuel to run the car. Also i had to go with a dual alternator system or the car surged with the bass when cruising.

They're some impressive efforts, how much power did all that draw, roughly?

Funny u should say that... i got banned by the police, They said i wasn't aloud to play the stereo within 3 streets of my house... they were getting too many complaints from the area. My parents and brother also used to say that pantings and stuff used to vibrate off the wall.

Both amps drew about 45-50Amps... which is almost all of what an EA81 alternator puts out.

System was removed when i started noticing considerable loss in hearing and after each trip i wouldn't feel too good. When it starts to effect your health it's time to down grade.

I have some sort of dodgy head unit, its black and plays music and stuff,it even has a light in it at night time, I have 5 inch splits in the rear(one has atleast 3 splits in it) and going on the odd bass vibration and rattle from my doors I think I may have front speakers too :D

Mate of mine had a big ported subwoofer box in the boot of his Hyundia Excel. One time he turned it up too loud with all the windows closed and blew out the rear quarter window. It smashed on what looked like a brand spankers Harley Davidson in Northbridge.
He got the hell out of there pretty quick.
