Hi all.

Been a Subaru lover for a long time. Did my apprenticeship with Regal Motors in Newcastle, who sell Subies, but haven't really worked on them much since then as that was like 15 years ago when I left.
Have had a tastefully modded RS Lib sedan since living in WA which ran a flat 13. Then had a Forester GT luxo spec and purchased a heap of gear to mod it but never ended up doing it and sold off all the bits as well as the car to move into a bigger family vehicle.

Recently I picked up an Leone with an EJ20T installed and have ressurected it after 5 years of sitting doing nothing. Got plenty of issues to sort out in it as yet and then i'll think about regoing it.

Cheers

Mitch

hey all,
Brought a subaru about 2months and as usuall i like to research my new toys. This site is great for what i want to do with the subby. I have learnt alot already. And i know i will learn alot more when i start to put things into practise. I'm from QLD and atm on my p's so a engine change is not for a couple years yet. But i wanta rigg it for 4x4. For starters a body lift, roof racks, bullbar and winch. which is needed for fraser island at easter time. i have never owned a 4x4 b4 or a subaru, But have been told that this 1985 wagon is a good work horse and very very reliable. Now i just think of a good name for the beast. and im set :P

Yes, It's stock factory. But after new years. I'm going to be installing....
body-lift kit, Bull-bar, Spotties, UHF radio, roof racks and 14inch rims....
Maybe even a snorkel, cannon and rear disc brakes....

Hello out there.

Post by isnowi » Mon Jan 25, 2010 5:28 pm

Hi all, Names Dan, 29, live in Wellington NZ.

I've been a confirmed subaru hater for as long as i can remember, but have always had a secret love of brumbies...

Anyhow, over the last little while events have transpired that caused me to sell my vw, and look for a ute, so i bought a brumby. It's by no means a minter, but is relatively rust free, it's a 1985, ea82 engined, dark grey, 'targa' top.

Plans are remove what little rust there is, patch up the existing paint, clean the chocolate milkshake from the motor (blown freeze plug, maybe more), rebuild same (if it's not too bad), moderate lift (3-4"), find a 5 speed, big wheels and tyres, custom bike rack.

Suffice to say, i am warming to other old subarus as well, but still not a huge fan of the newest stuff.

cheers, Dan

Welcome all of you! I've been on this forum a little while now and think your all going to find it more than useful at times it can be a life line at times as well as a great place to meet new people, I was watching this site and its predecessor for a long time before I joined but have learnt so much from it not even I believe it sometimes, plus I have saved a fortune on trial and error as some one else has normally tried it first! Well have fun on here and hopefully you get as much from it as I have!
87 targa brumby (Neglected),
92 targa brumby (weekend runabout),
97 Lifted Outback (Dailey drive),
05 outback safety (Too cheap to pass up),
90 model liberty (was to be scrapped instead sold to workmate)
+ others.

Intro and question

Post by richardd » Thu Feb 25, 2010 11:05 am

Hi all,

Just got my first Subaru. Picked up a 2005 Forester X - in very good nick and very happy with it.

I am based in NSW and bought the car as a compromise between a large 4x4 and a normal car. Like to get around the country and off the beaten track.

Quick question on the spare wheel if anyone can assist.

The car was fitted with alloys but the spare wheel is a black steel rim. Is that normal or should it be something I need to follow up on.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks
Richard

Hi there Subi fans

My name is mark and i have recently brought my first Subaru Forester MY10.

I got a great deal following the success of the Columbia package as Subaru did a further 200 cars with the options package. (one of which is now mine) To add to the amazing deal the garage threw in a set of Liberty 17" alloys with the new Yokohama Advan low profile tyres. Not a great choice of Tyre for a guy who likes a little off roading.

Needless to say i will be selling the tyres very soon and purchasing a set of Bridgestone 694 AT a great tyre which my partner had on her old 2001 Forester Limited Ed.

Looking forward to reading all about everyones adventure's and perhaps sharing a few of my own.

happy motoring
mark

unless you actually buy one yourself it comes like that and make sure if you do get a flat that you dont use the steel rim for too long as it will be a different size tyre to the alloy rims

and welcome to the board

Hi, I am JohnF and I am a a a a an :D:D:D whoops wrong forum.

Seriously we have a 94 L-series currently undergoing a engine swap to a EFI motor from a L-series sport, and I joined hoping I would find instructions somewhere on how to sort out the damm wiring.

I tried to join this forum ages ago but the question with the answer "six stars" always told me I got that answer wrong, so I gave up, biut finally decided to give it another tryg.

I am also a member of AULRO another forum covering another brand of 4WD that I am happy to name, but not here incase you want to stone me for saying it :):):).
