Hi there. I thought it was about time i introduced myself to the persons on this forum. My name is Brett, but friends call me Brettski (hence the name i registered with). Ive been reading these forums for a while getting any information that could be helpfull. So now its time to see if i can contribute anything to help with. So i live in regional N.S.W. where there is not much in the way of older subarus to find. My current vehicles inculde a Ford Falcon AU stationwagon, which is used for highway trips and towing. I also have a dedicated track/ drift car. And of course the reason im on here, my pride and joy is my 1987 Subaru Leone GLTA. I brought this car about 18months ago as a stock standard automatic turbo leone. The car was in all original condition, with a little rust around the front window and the auto transmission was on its way out. since buying it i have converted it to manual, re-made the dump pipe at the back of the turbo to give it a proper route for the wastegate gases, and just recently fitted a twin core gen 1 liberty radiator. I have also replace all of the oil seals and re-built th oil pump. so now she is nice and quite no more "tick tick tick" from the motor. Ill try to upload some pics too. Anyways thats enough rambling from me. G'day to you all!

Welcome

That is a sweet ride you have...always liked the L sedans in white.

The turbo autos were quite rare back in the day...manual much better though.

You must fit up a spider manifold - do a search on here...single biggest improvement to the EA82T you can do.

Enjoy

Thanks for the feedback guys. Im very happy with the way the car is looking at the moment, the white on white looks very nice!

sven '2' Yeah i have done some reading up through these forums on the spider intake manifold. it seams like it would be a very worthwhile upgrade. Just finding 1 would be the hardest part.

FROG Yes ive got a few more pics i will attempt to load up in the comming days. No sorry im not near 2680. Im in 2350 Armidale, its about half way between sydney and brisbane.

TIDY one there Brettski (Polish or Mediterranean influence on the name?) Notice the later model grille so figure you have hotwire AFM and not flapper AFM, so 4 plug ecu. Was it 4 speed AWD auto? I have a 3/87 compliance plated SEP85 made 4GLTA in Flare Red, now 5 speed D/R manual and what a difference :) :) also run straight LPG.

2350 eh? :) Still got my Ben Venue beanie too :) !

steptoe Cheers mate! im happy with it. Name is just just a nickname that sort stuck with me over the year. Is actually my nickname for racing and drift competitions too. Car is a 5/87 build and 6/87 complied. Yes its a later model with a hotwire air flow meter and 4 plug ecu. But it was only a 3 speed auto when i first got her. she is now a 5 speed manual d/r!
Ben Venue hey? Was a city public kid myself.

H-top Thanks mate, im pretty happy with her. dont really know about giving her more boost and a front mount though. she does have 270,000kms on her after all! But i am thinking about a second hand WRX top cooler and a very small hood vent, just to cool of the inlet air and combustion temps a little!

If you do go more boost defo go for the Turbotech precision manual boost controller on ebay for $30. Trust me, ten pounds in FWD on dry tarmac _ I lose traction

They are low compression engines even by turbo
standards and probably
even lower over the years. Easy 12psi :)
