Introduction

Hello everyone,

I am Paul Keller, and live in Moscow, Russia. The reason why I registered here is due to the fact that I haven't so far found any proper Subaru forums which have information regarding the Legacy Outback (upgrading the engine, etc.). Our family has a 2005 Subaru Legacy Outback 2.5, and atm we have upgraded it with STi trim, a STi flexible strut bar, and a HKS Super Hybrid Air Filter. Ill open up a topic with pics asap :mrgreen:

heh i see they kept models etc the same for the russian domestic market how far do you want to upgrade the engine ? do you guys get brumbies ( subaru utes ) over there ?

What I forgot to mention is that I am actually from The Hague, Holland :) My father works here in Moscow atm, and since we lived in Kiev, Ukraine for 4 years before we moved to Russia, a Subaru (both for the weather and road conditions) seemed the best option for a new car. The car was thus purchased in The Netherlands, and transported to Ukraine when we moved there. We do indeed get the same models in both Russia and in The Netherlands, however, unfortunately, we don't get the brumbies over here. We're trying to get it to STi spec (based on the parts they sell on japanparts.com), keep it N/A, and at the same time not effect the fuel efficiency as much.

cool... im not much help with sti spec... my last modified engine blasted anything with a sti or evo badge haha i guess suspension would be your next stop i think the sti,s or the rs or maybe it was all sports models came out with bilstein adjustables you can get them off ebay pretty easily most of the time if not try japanese wreckers im not sure how popular the old rice burners are on your end but they seem to breed like rabbits over here i guess then you could always go cold air intake, chip the computer, hot cams and the list goes on

Haha awesome :) We thought about the suspension as well, however, with the extreme weather conditions here in the winter, and the sometimes bad road conditions, we thought that the current ride height is something that we should keep. The reason why we didnt install a cold air intake is due to the fact that ive heard that it kills your air flow meter, so thats why we got the HKS filter. Chipping would indeed be an option, however, here in Russia we dont know many shops which would be able to do it, so atm we've mostly done DIY stuff.

huh iv never had an issue with cold air intakes it shouldnt damage it provided your still running a filter

Heard that the air flow meters are sensitive to K&N pod filters, however, it might be due to the fact that they were on earlier models. Apart, from the open air filter, are there any other obvious mods that can make a big difference?

cams can depending on what you do or have done umm hell even stronger valve springs can make a change got extractors ? they,ll work upgrade the ignition system other then that theres the cold air intake and high flow filter which you,ve done

Thanks! Just found these Impreza STi 600cc injectors on eBay ( http://www.ebay.nl/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... fe=sidebar ). Are these knock-offs, or real, and would these be a good upgrade to increase the performance of the Legacy ? :) Thanks again guys!

yea but i couldnt read everything else... it doesnt really say much but chances are their fajes (non legit) but they may still work the same dunno id take the risk but its your money not mine haha but they,ll allow it to chew fuel as well

You should be able to de-cap yours, have a look for a thread on google detailing it, free and much more reliable, I think yours will have the 4 squirters, all you do is gently file/grind the cap off till its a single squirter and you have roughly 680 from memory set of injectors again FREE, I know if you join PerthWRX PWRX there was a thread done a few weeks ago.

Yeah it's very easy and common to do on WRX's, just depends on how the cap was made, they sort of have a second skin that you carefully grind away to expose the original squirter and they are a MUCH better injector than the aftermarket ones, guess you'd need a sacrificial one to try then get flow tested.
