Hey everyone I'm Joel I have a 1996 lx liberty 2.2 awd 5 speed manual. I've had it for about 2 years now got around 260,000 at the moment she is lowered on pedders sports Ryder's but I want to lift it on maybe outback springs and shocks if someone can confirm its plug and play except the rear top hats obviously, got projector headlights, jdm 98 rx foglights, strut brace, and then just a flip out DVD screen and alpine ddlinear and type r's just bought a cheapy reverse camera off eBay waiting for it to arrive. Got 6000k HID kit in the headlights and have another 6000k kit for the fog lights ive been on subyclub for a while and I'm now over the lowered suspension would rather it be a little higher so I can go along the beaches etc so.

Hi everyone :D

Will get some pictures up ASAP!

Hi and Welcome Joel.. can't wait to see the pics :)

Your car is the Gen2 Liberty, so if you're wanting to raise it, then all you need is the front and rear shocks from a 96-98 Outback. These will fit straight in without and mods or strut top changes. I would also find the rear arm brackets that hold the bottom of the rear stub axle hub to the body of the car. These allow the wheel to move back in centre of the wheel arch again (after lifting with Outback struts). Best to get them off the car you get the struts off.

BTW.. they are an awesome beach car

Didnt have it in my first post but it is a sedan. So will it still be straight plug and play? That is the reason I thought I would have to swap the strut hats for the rear.

Thanks, Joel

99% sure the Gen 2 sedan have different top hats to the wagon but you should be able to change them over.

Yeh thought that cause at the moment I have impreza springs in it and had to change the top hat on them cause they were from a wagon.

Cheers mate

Gen2 wagon and sedan have the same tops. Only differences in the Gen2 is when they are either 2WD or 4WD. I'm only taking Gen2 Liberty's here, which is all Liberty's and Outbacks produced between 9/94 through to 9/98

Gen2 Outback struts will not fit any Impreza GC/GF (or Forester SF same floor plan as Impreza) unless you change the tops. Again, it needs to be 4WD tops if going into an 4WD.

That looks awesome :)

Love the projector headlights... was looking for ages for a set for my suby but didn't get around to it. I have the JDM driving lights too but on a green 97 wagon.

Good luck with the lift, you shouldn't have trouble selling your lowered suspension to someone else to help fund it
