Worked for me in both... Maybe something to do with your connection?

Works for me - but I know this one will only work when I'm logged in - it's one of those quirky features of the forum...

Well, I managed to destroy my pistons ,

Turns out when you forget to pull them out of alkaline degreaser it ends bad, oh well.

Good news is I tracked down some new ones :D.

Yeah, it fairly ate them away. Took off all the smooth finish.

Nah no rebore. For what I want from the motor it doesn't need it. Only half warn anyway.
Found some guys in Melbourne who had parts.

To be honest mate I haven't looked that hard yet. Shouldn't be to hard to work out. Arnt they meant to be stamped "a" and "b" as well?

Talking about pistons. When I had my mark 3 zephyr pistons were not available. So guys used most often Bedford pistons, Valiant also were on the list.

With my Lotus engine they used Datsun 180B pistons.

Surely there are pistons close to spec that can be used as a substitute? Maybe we can get someone that has access to pistons chart sizes and match some up?

Oh, by the way Steptoe, the pistons are marked (STD) on the face, but no arrow. Probably reckon they go in such a way that that mark isn't upside down? A rough eyeball doesn't show any differences in the piston. Im guessing its got to do with how the piston cocks during the back stroke?

Hmm appears to have something to do with the rings.

Good stuff Doug!

What's the cost on the block work so far - bearings, hone/rebore etc, pistons and rings? I'm starting to think it's my turn to do a rebuild of some sort...

Looking good mate!

Cheers
