An add came up on gumtree for a brumby and i managed to give him a call 2 minutes after he posted the add.
I had to drive a couple hours for it but pretty happy for $500. he reckons the motor has crapped itself and wouldnt start.
I have been looking for quiete some time for one to put an ej20 into so that didnt bother me.
The plans will be to build into a lowered street car, but with some differences. so anyone after a bullbar or the aircon (unsure if its working but its all there) than pm me.
It will be stripped completely and the body work has already started :)
will keep posted on the build.

For $500 that thing looks mint! And a straight tailgate! What's the insides look like? Is the tray all dented in?

Looks very straight, good starting point for a project

yeah basically completely stripped now except engine and underneath car and no rust besides from chips on the paint that have got surface rust. Tailgate isnt as good as it looks in the pic but still in not to bad shape.
The floor in the tray is pretty wavy but the sides are in great conditon so pretty happy about that.
the daunting task of taking out the windows tomorrow.

oh and the interior is as ugly as it gets. but im not going for original this time so it doesnt bother me to much... the bloke that had it previously didnt care to much about this one. but for 398000 ks the body has held up pretty well. but from where i got it its very dry and not alot of rain comes through.

G'day

Hey that's a good starting point for that money. I've been seeing heaps of Brumbys on gumtree lately, seems there's a few more on there every couple of days.
Can't wait to see it done, I'm a fan of the lowered Brumby thing.

Cheers Jake

Wicked project. Ej20 turbo? That's a score at that price. I go gold of a licenced and running Brumby for $400 a few months back. Gotta get around to filing some of the rust in it.
I've pm'd you for some parts.

There was a EJ20 turbo brumby on ebay the other day for $6,000.
I did put up a link to it.
I wish I had the cash to grab it.
This is going to be fun when you finish it..

I would love to turbo it... Time will tell. Body work is priority at the moment. Will be sure to keep posted.

Good luck and have fun with the build! But remember SA is particularly bad when it comes to getting modified vehicles registered. As far as the rego office is concerned, if it has a non-factory engine it's illegal (but that doesn't stop alot of people :o) The transport SA(?) website has some guidelines for allowed mods and what needs engineer certification, some bits that relate to us as well.

So I got these rims from WA. Not sure if they are a member here that I got them from or not but was wondering if anyone knows anything about them. The offset on them is different to the stock steelies I think. So I hope It doesn't affect them fitting. But in saying that they are on here http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/w ... heels.html
They are the 14" motion spoke rims. I think they look pretty cool and suit what I am going for and don't have to do the conversion. Has anyone had them? I'm assuming they are pretty rare as I haven't seen any around.

Very nice did you get the centres as well?

Where in WA did they come from if I had known these were over here I would have bought them for my vortex.

I have seen a set of these on a vortex on USMB and they had subaru centres.

they looked very nice on the vortex.

(do you think I can find the photo again?)

They didn't come with centres as that was the first thing I asked. Apparently these ones didn't come with centres. Personally think they did though. There are ones that are very similar to these with the centre caps so don't be confused by them. Cockburn Central wherr ever that is, is where they were sent from... Picked em up for $300 plus $50 postage. Bit higher than what I wanted to pay but he wouldn't budge but I think its a fair price and I am over the Sunnys being on every brumby out there. I like that there different. The stock 13s sunny centre cap fits perfectly so it won't make it look like the centre plate is missing.

You may be thinking of these. They feature a bit on usmb. But are slightly different

I've seen these wheels before on MY coupe but this was going back about 10 years ago. They are cool and did you get all 4?

Nope know these ones well they are 13" Vortex rims, I have a set wasting away in my shed.

The ones I saw were the ones you have they had centres with subaru on them :) they were on USMB but not sure if the member was from Australia or New Zealand.

I don't think it would be too hard to get a set of centres turned up for those rims then have Subaru either etched or laser cut into them.

I like the look of those wheels.
What colour combination is the Brumby's panels and wheels going to be?
Going with white again, if so, what colour for the rims?
