I dont think that any of the later model subaru faces would suit the front of a brumby, but i'm keen to be proven wrong.

EDIT:

That is the car that gave me the idea in the first place. I think that doing one like this is abit / very big bit beyond us. That is why i thought if it looked ok, we might try the impreza nose on a brumby. But going by the reactions , it don't look like it will happen.

I'd love to see you guys have a go at something like this. It looks awesome! But I reckon you'd need a tail gate. A ute isn't right without a tailgate in my book...

Slightly off topic, but it beats me why subaru just didn't bring out a WRX ute and be done with it. There must be a big market out there because utes are just so popular. Not everyone wants 4 seats????

Bullshit Rik. You guys could handle a job like that if you put your minds to it. You hand beat replacement rust panels remember?

Why not try a first gen Lib wagon and do a chop job on that? You can pick them up for peanuts now and being slightly bigger would make a very handy ute. Tell 'em it's a Brumby with some late model replacement panels.

Now that is food for thought. I might just look into that. I might see what the other two think. .

if any one in Australia can do this I believe it would be the subie boys your attention to detail would embarass alot of panel beaters and the work that I have seen come out of their shops

3 realistic choices 1991 liberty, early forester or an impreza wagon

the liberty would make the best work horse and the other 2 would make awsome show cars

there are 118 photos on that site and every picture is worth a 1000 words

so there is a masters paper on that site :) and your team already has a doctorate in rebuilding

+1 for Gen1 wagon converted into a ute. Impressa front on the brumby seems a bit of an odd match.

Here's another vote for a Gen1 Lib :)

I remember a photo in the Sunday Times of a guy who'd put a Commodore Ute rear section on a Gen2 Lib. Looked mor like someone had just stuck the Lib nose on a Commodore ute :(

that picture of the forester by Phizinza is known quite well now

if subaru ever return to the utility the forester would definitely make a nice ute

I don't know, I think the WRX ute looks more faithful to the Brumby memory. Something to compete against Holden and Ford utes?

WRX looks AUS

Forester looks USDM

I vote a gen 1 chop like shown above... but with a turbo conversion

Gen 1 lib ute with wrx conversion? YES PLEASE!

It'd be a mad work horse, the tray would be massive!

The forry would be more 'brumby' like with a shorter tray, just the shorter and stockier look than the lib.

I reckon if you go a lib make it low street rider, it'd look sick! For the foz go high offroader! :D
