Can u swap 97 imperza engine for 01 model engine easily?????
Hey guys Got a 97 impreza with a blown engine and found 2001 impreza engine and was wondering if all the original piping and what not will just connect straight to the newer engine???? Any comment or advise is much appreciated

If going by WRX's I'd say not a chance, the only thing you can interchange would be the block, you'd have to use your old heads and intake manifold otherwise you'll need to re-wire the whole car, change the computer etc, really a total waste of time.

I'd say n/a, 97's never came with a 2.5, only 1.6 and 2.L

Welcome to the forum mate,
Probably best to have posted this in the Engine Gearbox and Diff sub forum in the Workshop section of the forum
Unless you're going to do a conversion I'd be trying to get an engine from another vehicle that's in the same generation, even better would be from the same year. Best way to find out if it's going to be a plug and play is to find out the code on the ECU - if it matches yours you're in business.
Cheers
Bennie

NA or Turbo doesn't matter both engines (97 & 01) are going to be different.
NA EJ engines changed in 2001 to the larger rocket cover and completely different head design, thus making the inlet manifold unable to be swapped over.
Too many things to list on the turbo model
