Tex has been a quiet one here lately too ! Starting to think I had remembered this post before I tossed my last L Series wagon, though would look odd behind my Brumby or L Sdan :)

Andrew was in just yesterday according to member list, A , page 2

lol, yes, don't get on here as much as I used to.
Just an update - I disposed of the trailer a couple of months ago. Chucked it at the dump.

Got good use out of it, used it every other weekend for random stuff. Moved house twice. Here's a pic of the it the last time we moved house, my Dad putting stuff in it.

As advice to anyone else wanting to do something similar, here are a few points:

1) Too heavy.
Not really too heavy...as in, my various Subaru's had no issue towing it, but for what it was (just a 6x4 trailer) it wasn't really worth the weight. Also, just pushing it around by hand to put it away etc was a bit difficult.

2) Couldn't carry much weight.
Given it still just had L series shocks/springs, it couldn't handle much of a load. It did have no roof, no glass, no interior, but really it still had most of it's original weight. You couldn't really strip much out to save weight without sacrificing structural integrity. Actually I probably made up the difference with the extra metal for the floor etc.

3) Wheel arches.
Having the wheel arches inside rather than outside the cargo area was annoying. They get in the way.

Also I should have started off with a rear end in a bit better condition - the body was pretty badly rusted out on this one. I cut my old wagon in half and left the rear half out in the weather for a good few years before actually making it into a trailer.

Just didn't have the time to make it look more presentable and really needed a bigger more heavy duty trailer. Got a nice big dual axel box trailer with car ramps now so this thing had to go.

Was certainly fun while I had it and made good use of it. Looked great towing behind an L series.

Hey Andrew, is that your Legacy in the pic? You should definitely take this to the Subaru day in Freo.

And did you keep the back tailgate of this trailer?

Yeah that's the leggy. Maybe, bit of an ordinary thing though.

Nah, junked the trailer. Cut an L tailgate with a grinder and you'll have one just like it.

That's a great vehicle to bring to the Subifest. There will be heaps of different cars there.

Yeah, I can cut one up, I'm just going to find it hard to do to a good tailgate. I actually want to make a fibreglass one, so I just need a semi good one to made a mould off.
