Mother in-law now has two - this SG and Sunnie the Brumby.
My sister has Basil the Gen3 Liberty.
And I’ve got my Brum3y, Ruby Scoo and the RS (yet to be put on the road).

So six all up, plus some parts bombs at M&D’s place to keep the brumbys and the L going relatively easily.

Finally some visual development in this build!

Yesterday the heads FINALLY went on. The hold up was valve lapping, cleaning and reassembly between wrapping up work for 2019, family and the silly season! Plus the heat at times.



^ new water pump, oil pump removed and a new O ring installed. New crank and cam seals will be fitted too.

Later in the evening 1WD-Foz came over and I installed the cam shafts and valve train gear. We also had some fun spraying up the sump and cam covers for something a bit different. Lots of cleaning was involved. Not a lot of fun!



This afternoon the plan is to fit the cam belt then do the valve clearances, fit the sump and cam covers too. Once that’s done it can come off the engine stand to do the rear seal and reseal the oil separator plate and the gudgeon pin access cover plate.

I’d like to spray up the intake manifold too, but I do t know if I can be bothered with the effort of disassembling the intake gear. We’ll see how it goes!

Yesterday it really started coming together. With the heat on Friday I didn’t make it to the shed, even after dinner I was done so nothing achieved.

It’s amazing how quickly progress happens once all the technical stuff and cleaning is done!



The paint is looking good, even with a couple of cheeky bugs that were entombed in it. Much of this visual appearance is for shits and giggles as most will be lost with a tight engine bay. This is how I left it last night before packing up for some shut eye.



Cam covers are currently covered with a couple of rags, as are the intake holes.

Now to go chase this elusive yellow paint to do the intake manifold - I’ve decided it has to be done, otherwise it’s a wasted opportunity and exercise overall.

Yellow, what a huge change from the cutomary or obligatory RED that is normally used, looks cool to me Bennie.
It also blends in with the oil filler cap - dipstick and water bottle lids.

Hehehe... yeah, yellow - my MIL’s favourite colour it turns out! She doesn’t know that I’ve done the paint work yet.

Inlet manifold will be painted. It’s 90% stripped and I have a new paint can waiting for the weather to “get better” for painting. Can’t complain about rain with all these fires around though! I just hope it’s landing on the fire front.

My only issue with yellow is that all the “consumer check me” points will blend into the background with all the yellow paint in there once it’s done.

No work yesterday on the account of rain. No real work on it today on the account of humidity.

Actually, that's not such a silly idea!

No movement on the Foz since my last post, just haven't got back into it to sort out the painting of the inlet manifold - I decided I need to do it otherwise I'll kick myself if I don't.

Once that's painted, reassembled and on, all the busy stuff you can't see happens - namely an all fluids change. The auto will be new for me. I'm going to go for the idle and drain from a cooler hose method for most fluid changed. Bugger that drain and fill, drive, drain and fill (several times) method! I've also got an auto filter to go on, would be a waste not to with the fluid change.
