Depends on the type of EJ25

Is it a DOHC or a SOHC model.

DOHC models have a similar wiring system to the EJ22, so it might work

The later SOHC models use a completely different wiring system

it's a single cam engine ,, dont want a dohc because i dont want to modify the chassis.. .. so by that sounds like the wiring will be different ? thanks

I am in a similar position and just picked up an EJ25 DOHC motor locally from off eBay for $50, it's not 100% complete but it does have similar wiring to the EJ22, or at least an EJ22 from '95 or so. How learning or adaptable are the 3 plug ECU's fuel wise and could you just bung on the original 22 version? I would think the airflow meter as well as throttle body setup would get it going but well enough to use properly? Interested to know. Thanks.

So go the whole hog and replace the wiring while you're at it!

You'll love the EJ25! Its almost another step up on the EJ22 from what I remember of driving Venom's L series with EJ25 under the bonnet...

EJ25 DOHC, they have a certain head gasket reputation don't they?

Only if the factory gasket hasn't been changed, and only from 2000 up till 2002 from memory... I'm not 100% sure on that but I'm maybe 90% on that. You'd know wouldn't you Gannon?

it was the early gen2 lib ej25s that had the issue(and the outbacks of the same age) from about 95-99

the problem was fixed from about 99 onwards.

they usually blow a HG at about 100k
