EJ rack into a Brumby

Post by SUBIIE » Tue Nov 01, 2011 2:28 pm

Hi Team,

see my sig for build details.

But......

Have major scrubbing from the 16 inch wheels on the body at full lock.

Running a EJ power steering rack out of a 95 WRX in the brumby.

What can I use to limit the steering?

Cheers

i believe crossbred performance have a spacer kit that goes between the inner tierod and the rack on each side to limit the steering travel alternatively you could fabricate some stoppers on the lower controll arm with a bolt that adjusts the travel. have a look at a datsun or nissan as they have this setup
hope this is of some help

have the spacers, but they are not quite enough and are not made for the EJ rack.

the crossbred spacers are a nolthane cylinder that I had to slice a part out of to fit over the sleeves. This is not enought to stop the movement of the rack.

So get some more? well, Jeff at crossbred custom makes batch lots and doesnt have spares to sell.

Will need to get some made up.

Spacer problem sloved witha bit of old nylon chopping board.
Drilled it with enough meat to hold it onto the rack , now there is enough there to limit the steering rack.

easy solution

thanks for sharing subiie.
Did you know the inner tie rods screw off the rack to fit the sapcers.
I have had a good look at your signature thread, thanks for sharing that also. BTW the thread on the Inner TR is M14 x 1.5mm. Should have the L series PS rack in my Brum in a couple of weeks.
