This is a great trip with plenty of hill climbs to take your car to the limit.
Camping at Island Reach caravan park in the Middle of Imbil with a short walk to the pub for dinner on Saturday night.
Sit around the camp fire and talk some bull about the day.
We will be taking the long way in through the forest so we wont be getting to camp till the afternoon. If for bring a trailer you will have to meet us there.
This trip is rated medium/hard and You will get bush pin striping there is plenty of lantana.
Meet at BP Morayfield Bruce Hwy northbound leaving 8:30am.

Lantana is a weed that takes over the forest it has very small spikey branches on it.
Bush pin striping is when you drive past lantana and it puts scuff marks down the side of your car when you rub up against it.
That is why it is good to have a white car it doesn't show up as much:rolleyes:

Yeah, does look like a good trip. Only reason we did not go was the fear of getting Lantana scratches in the paintwork. I have worked clearing land of Lantana and been caught up in the stuff. I know. I'm a pussycat. Cheers.

We don't get time to take photos when your trying to clear some lantana so the rest don't have to;)
Some of the tracks that we took last time are now impassable due to so much lantana
I went down one very steep track i was committed once i started, At the bottom there was that much lantana i didn't know which way to go it would have been 2 meters high in the middle of the track.
Here is a pic of a bit that we went through it's not much tho
If i don't mention the lantana people will complain it's scratching the paint (That's why my car is white)

Yeah, lantana scratches. Great trip but for the first time ever, I haven't cleaned my car after a trip and I REALLY don't want to. There is dirt and mud is everywhere but I can still see the bush pin-striping through the crap, actually more like bush scaring. I've been busy working on the car over the weekend but a wash just isn't on the agenda. I've changed my wheels back to the normal outback ones, changed my engine oil and filter, checked the air filter (all goodish) re-gapped the spark plugs, changed out both engine mounts and even changed the front brake pads.
In all fairness, I was fully warned about the lantana and I would do it again without hesitation. It was a great trip and I do LOVE camping and the pub meal was a winner too. Only real downside was me needing a little tow up some muddy hill. The poor old engine needs a little refresh and I hope to do that soon.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day and I'll think about shouting my car to a tub in the morning. Perhaps the scratches will wash away if I squirt some Clearasil in with the car wash, well it works with teenagers, doesn't it!
Got to love Subies
Cheers
