So can't you bore and re-sleeve it with a nice big sleeve so it's closer to the impeller.

Find the right size alloy pipe and hammer it in there after you file the bumps off, do some measurements and check if there is an alloy pipe made in the same diameter then go to a scrap ferrous metal dealer and see what they have, Seagull just bought a pile of scrap tubing around that size from a scrappie.

Ok Matt,

First thx for the offer:)
I'm not sure about the year. I was told it should be the last two number on the tag plate. The license one has 06 on it lol. no way. it must be late 80's. where would i find the factory plate?

would you know if i need to align the engine, shaft, and pump when i put it all back in??

So i took the pump apart and found that its got a skat-trak prop. Is that a good pitch?? How can i tell if its worn? measurements?
It turns fine, no movement and i think the bearings inside are fine. Do those things have oil in there like on the seadoo?
If i can find out if the prop is not worn, does this mean i only need the pump case housing?

Image

This is the bump in the housing

Image

This is the nozzle pump case housing, This would be fine to use again right?

Image

Also took some pics of the carby. I need to know what it is so i can buy the kit and jets.
It says Keihin 807-1 on one side and 495 on the other.

Thx

Why can't they be a simple Mikuni Carbie instead of a Keihin! lol :)

I have seen way worse wear rings then that, it still got 50 hours in it, well according to some customers...As for the prop the best way to tell is to measure the cleanance between the prop and a good wear ring and go from there. But looking at the pic it doesn't look to bad at all.

Matt, pm sent.

The prop doesn't look too bad but if you look at post 80 on page 8 you will see the gap is huge... 2mm +-. Thats why i'm worried that the prop is worn.

Also from the US forum i was told i could get the steering cable, complete pump assembly and tether for $240. I would still need the other bits and about 70-100 postage. This is better than the $600 quote to get the prop and wear ring sorted here!!

I hope you can find some stuff for me and help me save me some coins:p
Again thank you very very much for your time and help.

Hey guys,

Little update. Got some parts. A huge thx to 99spxxx and Matt For sending me a good Pump, and a new steering cable.
Bolted those parts to the ski. I hope i did it right as its been a while since i took it apart. but seemed straight forward.
A few pics...

My new cable installed:) Thx Matt

Now the main issues/worry (maybe Matt can help:wink:
I'm not sure how this part is called but i guess its holds the shaft in place and acts as a seal to prevent water from getting in.
From the pic below you will see some sand in the hole with the bearing.
Two questions,
1, Should i replace the bearing and seal? what are they called and where can i get it if it needs replacing.
2, Is there a special way to bolt it back to ensure a water tight seal??
3, Is there a special way to put the shaft back in and would it need balancing/ centering??

Image

Thx

Quick response as this is last time i on here for 2 weeks :))))))
1. Yes and they should be standard bearing and seals available at a bearing place. (sorry dont know your local dealer)
2. Marine Silicone, available boat places and even bunnings in the sealant row
3. Technically yes, practically no. Roll the shaft along the ground and check for straightness... you will see if it isnt straight

Ok just a few more pics of the new hull i got, Basically got it so i could make one out of two or maybe get both back going. I'll keep this new 440 hull for mine as its much better and wack all the best parts on it inc the 550rred engine..

The engine it came with. Seems to be a 440 but with the 550 head.

Image

Stripped it

Image

And gave it a major clean:)

This is what the new hull, the 440 looks like:)

And thats what the garage looks like:)

Just a little update, Got the prop off 2day. man that was a pain!!!!! After about an hour, some hitting, bashing, heating with a propane gun, impact wrench, plenty of CRC it came out.
Now after all this struggle, should i replace the seals bearing in the holder that holds the shaft?? it doesn't really have any play or noise when rotating. Is it a pain to do?

Also decided to bolt the engine block in the ski, when to lift it by the half exhaust and carby and the part of the block with the barrels came off and the crank part stayed on the floor!!!! DUHHHH Anyway i've ordered new top and bottom copper gaskets so i'll use them once they get here. Everything looks smooth and clean and these no play in the crank, con rod or piston, all feels really tight. but thats from my amateur point of view:)

Now is it ok to leave it like that for 15 day till the parts arrive or should i spray it with something, its winter here.
When i put it all back together, should i "lightly scratch the inside of the barrels?" forgot the term this process is called??
Must i use a sealant with the coper gaskets?

This is turning out to be very fun and interesting.
I love getting my hands dirty and building cars, bikes, quads and jetski's in this case, properly until they work and are reliable:)
only thing is i wish it didn't cost as much:(
Thx

The hull looks to be in pretty good nick, and the shopping trolly is a very versatile piece of equipment. You are going to need another shed soon.

Little update.

Since i can't do much at the moment on the ski as i'm waiting to get the parts i need from the US.

I've decided to make a trailer for the ski's. Mostly with stuff laying around I've come up with this. I can use it as a double jetski trailer if i get both working or take one set of rails "half ladder" and reposition it in the center as its held on by U bolts.
I still need to work out the front winch setup, I want to have one which on something that allows it to move to all three positions, Right, center, left depending if I've got two or one ski on the trailer.
Lol its a bit of a back yard trailer but it should work:)

Just to update this thread,

The trailer was completed and sold with the white ski that ended up with the running engine that came from the black ski.
Image

The black ski had its engine rebuilt and then sold too...

Looking out for the next project:)
