No the bolt was easy to get out, What i meant was the crank pulley was thread locked to the crank shaft!!! Who does that???
Oil is black!! lol
So far all the lift blocks are made and installed on the car, I think it the first time i haven't cross-threaded a nut installing a lift kit. Paul will be proud!! LOL. Now i'll get the strut top draw at work and laser cut:)
Tomorrow i'll start to get the engine back in..

Looking at the inside the engine appears to look ok, really won't know the extent of the damage the heating has done until we can do a compression test.guyph_01 wrote:Well The plan is to wack a set of head gaskets on the engine and see if it runs again:) Paul seems to think it will be fine and the trip from Joondalup to my place the engine ran better than expected and only stopped at the last minute!!
What you mean it stopped? you told me you turned it off when you got home and it just pissed out oil like it was water??
It will run for sure but you will need to be on the look out for a replacement, as I can't say how long it will last.guyph_01 wrote:So yeah, Paul said that he thinks the engine will run again, I think i'll listen
steptoe wrote:I was thinking have only seen thse drooping belt cover backs on cooked EA82's and they must have been bloody hot for quite a while! Those seals did not melt did they Guy ? Just looks like leaking oil turned to grease from your pics
Very much like grease but the seals were that rock hard, they came out in pieces.guyph_01 wrote:Need to ask Paul about the seals, he took them off:)
The Harmonic Balancer pulley was easy to get off, the problem was the Timing Crank Pulley.. this was a SOAB to get off !! and I'm still waiting to replace that lost fluid Guy??guyph_01 wrote:No the bolt was easy to get out, What i meant was the crank pulley was thread locked to the crank shaft!!! My thoughts too.steptoe wrote:Those seals did not melt did they Guy ? Just looks like leaking oil turned to grease from your pics
So you've stuck with this engine - I'm guessing that compression came up to spec? New head gaskets?
I'll be interested to see how she runs! And how long the engine lasts - just don't give it to Taza!! Well, unless he can give you his EJ25 it might be worth your while
Cheers
Bennie
Ok the engine is in and almost ready to fire. I finally found a cam sensor and i'll get that in and started tomorrow. I'll then do a compression test and head leak test
P.s, notice the alu plate for the bash plate:)
Got those set of rims for free. What do you think if i get bigger tyres on them?
Or maybe it would suit the future Wrx vortex better?
Shame about the dents:(
Also, I might be able to get my hands on a H6 motor... I contacted Venom and it seems it won't be to hard to fit..., I'm tempted!!!!

Ok so the engine is back in. Went to start it, it kinda wanted to start but just would not start. So then i started the trouble shooting, Checked spark, yes on all four, took the fuel in out and a burst of fuel came out, Checked all the plugs, sensors... checked the vacuum hoses, all gd.. Then i took all the timing covers off to check the timing belt, Maybe that old man had stuff it up!!!!
Nope, timing is spot on!!! So i did a compression test, 145, 160, 135 150. Not the best but that's ok. by then the battery was flat!!! so put it on charge for half a day. I that time i got a bash plate on:) Not the strongest thing but should help protect the sump etc.
So when the bat was full, i had called Paul a few times by then, Tried everything he suggested but still nothing.. Maybe fuel pressure is low. So i hook up the pressure gauge, cranked the engine over and the needle didn't move!!! WHAT!!!! Fuel tank was empty!!!! Poured some fuel in the tank and after a few cranks the engine started!!!!!
Anyway once she started, i did a vacuum test and that was ok, did a head leak test and the liquid stayed blue, so no leak...
