I Have installed power steering rack ex 2001 forester into the brumby ej20 conversion to keep the pump.

Vass guy has knocked it back as there is too much angle between the steering column and the rack input.

There is a double universal between them but he reckons 30 Deg (we have 60 deg est.)max and we need to align it better to remove lumps when motor not running. also pump pressure valve needs adjusting as it is too soft.???

That and clutch problems and it is legal'

Anyone any clues/ideas as it has been done before by you guys.

Appreciate your help

Regards
Chuckles

I used an MY PS rack, EJ20 pump and custom pipes between the two.

I used the MY rack and an EJ22 pump and lines. All we did was cut and flare the in (pressure) line so it fit the MY rack. The return line can be the rubber half inch automatic transmission tubing. don't use any other type of rubber hose as the power steering fluid with sweat through the hose.

Probably best to start new threads in the conversions sub forum or in the troubleshooting one.

This forum is Brumby Kids' restoration forum for their builds etc.

How do we measure the angle of the joint accurately? I've got two brumbys in the back yard at the moment with the factory MY power steering - if told how, it should be easy enough to measure up the factory angle on the joint.

Also, the factory joint has a rubber disc built into it.

Cheers

Steering drama fixed thanks to you guys appreciated your help!!!!
Next problem CLUTCH :- Kept cable (new modified longer) but now too heavy.
Drove it 30 KMS and back for VASS inspection and my foot was nearly dropping off in heavy traffic.

It was knocked back for the power steering (which, I hope, you lot have solved for me but the clutch may have to be converted to Hydraulic. I reckon any Hyd. Clutch could be made to fit. Any Ideas???? WA mob too hard to access.

Appreciate your help Macca.
