Tried using Sketchup for a bit & came up with this :

Image

Wheel Nut

Slow progress I know, but learning as I go ... :)

P.S. - Does any body know how to get the 'Rotating Image' thingy uploaded along with it onto the 3D Warehouse Site ?

Cheers, Bantum ...

Congrats. Learning curve is steep and downhill with Google Sketch so you'll work it out fairly fast I am sure. Seems good. :)

I'm building my "Ideal" shed on Google Sketch atm before I convert it to blueprints and it's a workout.

As for the 3D image rotator I find it works better in Google Chrome browser but dies out on other browers (Firefox, Safari, Chromium, etc) It may have to do with the flash/java scheme of things...

I just right clicked on the 3d image on 3Dwarehouse and saved it to here ... ;)

Yeah, not sure exactly what I did to get there though, as I thought it was an automated process when you uploaded to the site - appears to be working now ... :)

Full on mate! Tidy work on that sketch up - is it an easy program to use and do you need to download it or is it net based? I'm thinking of using this in one of my classes :D

Keep up the good work as always!

Agreed! It's downloadable for free onto any computer, just google, "Sketchup Download" and in 5 minutes you can get playing. :)

Sketchup is relativley easy if you compared it to AutoCAD, although it does have less functions & can be a bitch trying to get compound curves to work ... :-x
El_Freddo wrote: ... and do you need to download it, or is it net based ? ...
Yep - free down load ... :D

That forester chop with about 200mm or so longer wheel base and the same on the tray, diesel with a really low LR box and I'd buy one for sure.

Ok - I managed to get some 'virtual' work done on the ute over the weekend, here are the results :

Image

Note : Added brake to the wheel ... :D

Then mocked up a drive line :

Image

Note : Haven't quite got all the details right yet ...

Add : Any body got some photos of the under side of a XV ?

And finally a first draft of the side panels :

Image

Note : Not finished yet, still need to go over it again to 'iron out' the kinks, gaps & missing bits ... ;)

Still loads more to do though ...

Cheers, Bantum ...

Done a bit more to the front end :

Image

Note : Tidied up the side panels & added a front bumper bar, still needs a bit more work though ... :p

Next task will be looking at the rear end ... ;)

Cheers, Bantum ...

Done a little bit more ... :p

Image

Note : Now have added the rear end, although I haven't quite finished the tail lights ... :D

Add : Also I might have to revisit how the tailgate folds down, as it interferes with the bumper ... :(

Next ... I'm thinking will be looking at the Cabin ? ...

Yep, and then some creative licence ... :)

I would'nt go measuring it though, but it should be a close approximation. I'll add some screen shots later of the example used to 'follow', which were loaded in the background ... ;)

Meanwhile, here is a small update of some details added to the rear end, see if you can pick the improvements ... :p
