Brumby Radiator

Post by greg » Mon Sep 29, 2008 5:54 pm

Hi all.

Can anybody tell me if the Brumby (91) radiator comes fitted with a top up container(not sure what the correct terminology is) to the side of the radiator?

The reason I ask is because not long ago i had the whole radiator taken out and serviced.
I noticed since then that there seems to be two outlets off the radiator to the side that looks to me like it led to where you would normally top up coolant in a seperate container and which would allow the coolant to flow back into when it heats up.I cant recall whether there was a top up container there previously or not.
Now when it gets to hot it seems to flow out of the radiator and i have to keep topping up.Is there something missing here?
Thanks.

Cant tell you about a overflow bottle for a 91 Brumby, but if you have two outlets on the same side tank of your radiator that are not being used, can we assume that your car is not an automatic? these fittings sound like the ones used for a auto trans oil cooler that is inside the radiator tank.
Probly wont hurt to fit an overflow bottle anyway, help stop constant topping up and therefore diluting the corrosion inhibitor. Have to have the correct rad. cap too, different ones if you have a o/flow bottle or not.

Lots of Ks,A/C, MP3 sometimes(if its not dark) singing steering wheel cover which I listen too when its dark.

It's been a while since I've been anywhere near a stock '91 Brumby but no, I don't think they have an overflow bottle as std. Couldn't hurt, as already stated, but if it's not getting hot...

If you have a standard EA in the Brumby an early model Liberty overflow bottle fits in like it was meant to be there
