Feeback Suggestion

Post by Fang » Mon Feb 20, 2006 5:09 pm

I know this was mentioned earlier but I think it was left in the air. Is it possible to add a feedback system for purchases/sales similar to eBay or USMB?

I have been ripped off twice purchasing things from people on this board. And these people are not "newbies" either. I know I am not the only one to experience this. Having said that, I have done deals with many good people on the board too.

I think the integrity and honesty (or lack of) should be displayed so all can see - and make up their own minds.

My two cents worth anyways...

Not a bad idea, if we could figure out how to work it.

I say publish the names of those who've ripped you off. I've done several deals with selfless, generous and truly inspiring men on this site - I'm upset that anyone would try to rip another member off.
Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

I am not aware of that system so how do you stop people setting you up? running you down in a feedback section?

I am not a vindictive person - and at the moment, I don't really have solid proof don't to back up my claims. Don't get me wrong - I am less than amused.

You are right - the very large majority of people here I have bought things from (or sold things to) have been extremely reliable and very honest. Some have been downright generous. I could list quite a few people that I would highly recommend.

But like in eBay, a few people spoil it for the rest.

Jaffa - the system that USMB is similar to eBay's. However its not foolproof. You leave feedback for a person - and that person is notified immediately with a message like this one
This is an automated notification to let you know that this person has just rated you in the Trader Ratings system.

Have you rated this person yet for the transaction? If not, now is a good time! You can go to their Trader Ratings page by clicking the feedback score below their name.

If you did not conduct any business with this individual, please report the problem to an admin.
So yes - it does require intervention from Admin if someone is placing false feedbacks. Maybe a registration area to record where a purchase has taken place - I do not know.

In WA we've got a couple of people who have ripped members off with sales through this board. We've kept relatively quiet about this on the boards, we've sort of all learned the hard way or heard the stories at meets or through private chat. Unfortunately this doesn't stop interstate ripoffs and doesn't warn the uninitiated.
The problem is of course that theres two sides to each story. The person who I'm specifically talking about doesn't think they've ever done anyone wrong! If I were to post their name up here, they'd claim I was slandering them.

I'd love to name this person (most of the WA crew know who I'm talking about anyway) but I wouldn't risk it for the aforementioned reason.
