Victorian fire disaster
I am gob smacked as to the size of the fires and how fast it has been and I hope thay get the bugger that started them.
I was just thinking about all the Subys that have been lost to the fires, I am not trying to take anything away from those that lost everyyhing, but what about all those poor burnt out Subys? shouldn't we be thinking of them as well.
Thay have been so good to there owners, have taken them were ever thay have wonted to go in style, to town, to work, on holidays, away camping, going fishing, takeing the boat out, on road trips, on long trips, on short trips, and track days, and fun times.
We should make it a point to remember them and all that thay have been to so many.
Rik.

Well.. I've had a couple of friends who lost their houses in St Andrews & Kinglake and I still cannot get my head arnd it, and whoever is being caught will be called "mass murderous" I really do hope they do get caught for what they did. Honestly I cannot compare anywhere else to the world (Tsunami, floods etc) and I think its the worst and the news has gone around the globe. Dunno what the score is now, its over 190 dead now, but its now discreet by the operation since they have taken over.
Victoria will take a long time to heal up, and a lot of people who I know are still haunted (also my Dad as well who he was in Lavers Hill at that time) by Ash Wednesday and made 10x worse from recent Black Saturday.
A BIG thanks to DSE, CFA, MFB, SES, Ambos & Police, Red Cross, Salvos etc taking up their time working on this.
Cheers

It doesn't take long before the 'six degrees of separation' comes in. I met someone yesterday who apologised for looking so hammered. His sister lost everything at Kinglake. Family had seen warnings for nearby on the interet, rang to ask sister who said had not seen the warnings but the fires were a long way off. Just hours later family got a call to say the house was hopelessly on fire and they were leaving then no contact for another two hours - they expected the worst. The brother in law is a burns specialist !

i dont believe what i just heard from a friend yesterday....some ass that owns a hardware store down near the fires has taken this time to make a profit....he is charging double the price for hoses and buckets and things people need...what a low life...i'm trying to find out who this person is and i have passed on my concerns about this person to the tv stations to try and find them.....we will find them

I can't believe he was actually charged at all, but $100 sure as hell beats and shames the others. We are sending a generator down to Victoria, to aid in the whole bushfire thingo.
Anyhow, we were ringing for freight quotes, and overnight this 70kg box to Vic was $400-$500....so we rang pack & send at Seven Hills....told him what we were doing, and he immediately said $100.
I was stoked with that, considering nobody else was entertaining helping us out, apart from IPEC, who would only do the slow coach thing, to arrive Monday or Tuesday....
Well done Pack & Send....you will get some more business from us...!
Peter

Well it looks like they've caught one of them and they are taking him to Melbourne for his own safety although I feel that the safest place for him anywhere in Australia at the moment is six feet under (maybe), And my Ex was telling me they were watching the one at Beechworth from our old veranda and it was far worse than the media were talking but it increased eight times while they were watching it. Just glad me and a friend put one out the other day otherwise there would be another big one in NSW to go with all their little ones!
