We had to drop the brumby down on some tires today so we could use the chook cooker ends to move another brumby to ross's today. But now it is back up ready for steve to do more.

Steve got some more welding done . Finished tacking the sill on and started doing some seam welding to take the EJ engine. Needs to be wired up and treated with cold gall.

The little bit I did yesterday. Last few minutes last week, forgot how to weld and didn't know what I was looking at. This week, first thing I did was cut open the problem spot and replace the two small corraded bits, cold gal everything and weld it shut again. All good...

Then zapped in the skin on the bottom of the "A" pillar. (Have to finish that off today).

Will probably do some seam welding and then measure up for the gussets and a torque member (to stop torsional twisting in the finished car.

Steve turned up today and done a bit more welding. Filling up holes that are no longer need.
While he did that , Ross and myself are trying to put together a casting for a mold to make roof consoles for the M.Y. A little more sanding and checking and then try to put one out and see how it turns out.

I can only speak about myself. When i weld ( which i am not real good at, Bad case of pigeon shit most of the time , but some times , i will put down a half decent one, ) i put it down in short bursts and go opposite sides all the time to allow what is just don to cool. With the mig we have , it is cheap so long runs on body metal cant be done as it will just blow straight through. The settings cant be dropped enough. So that is why only short bust have to be used. I believe steve does the same , just better at it.brumbee wrote:how do you guys not have the metal warp and sag when you weld in a new section?

OK, a update on our first fiberglass roof console. First one , made , trimmed covered , fitted out and put in. With a slight change , they will fit a brumby. Yet to see what difference and changes to make them fit an L series.

If we make to sell, depending on what it is for , eg : wagon or brumby, we need to ajust the mold as different roof shapes, all so how someone wonts it eg: blank or fitted out, Blank we were thinking of about $50 .
