hahah

well. there is an update actually.
Dave came around on the weekend and weaved some of his magic as only some of us are actually lucky enough to see and we got her started after a day of rushing last minute things together. Big thanks to Dave ofcourse as he out did himself also lending me a fuel pump, saving the day.

She is running a tad rough at the moment as one part is blocked up(can't remember the name of it-dave knows) but have taken that off and attempted to clean it with carby cleaner.
couldn't take it for a drive because the accel cable wasn't on but after last night is and the fenders and lights are back on.

also found a slight leak in the radiator after connecting the fans up snug and beautifly so changing that today. hoping to have her on the road in the next couple of days.

cheers

fairly urgent

thanks

I probably have one kicking about in the shed if Dane can't help u. Use the top cap of yours... it looked in good condition. Again it's one of my spare parts though.

Im not surprised u broke that part... seamed very seized.

Part is called an ABC (Air Bypass Controller) or BAC (Bypass Air Controller) everywhere seams to call it something different.

thanks for the offers guys, thought it might of been an uncommon part but good to see some lying around.
grabbed one off Guy today luckily and yeah mine was unmovalbe after 2hrs soaking in carby cleaner, anyway, wacked it in, also changed the radiator and cluster. all runs sweet once the ABC was changed, idling at 800-900rpm.
Although the speedo cable isn't long enough to stretch from cluster to g/box...strange.
and when i put it in a bit of smoke came from the top of the cluster when i turned on fan and indicators.....strange once again(would it be because some wired are touching that aren't meant to be???)
oh and the two clips at the top of the cluster that are universal, i take it, are different to the rx turbo i have(well jsut one on the left of the cluster). although voltage, temp, revs and i think fuel work so im still not sure about that one.

just have to change the left strut top around tomorrow so it sits properly and can take her for a little spin around the block.

thanks again guys

took her for a spin this morning. made an adjustment to clutch cable, cable tied the accel cable(temporary) but everything else seems to be working just fine-
cv joints, power steering, all/most electrics. brakes feel slightly different to the rex..haha
it sure does sound meaty with just the headers on it too.
oh and that smoke in the cluster has seemed to of stopped, weird

i assume that smoke has come out with your new cluster not the one i was playing with??

If so maybe there was extra wires like u said that are not meant to be there. This might have burnt out a track on the back of the cluster... obviously for something not too important.

Im glad it's running sweet.

yeah it was out of the new one. the only slight issue with it is that the fuel gauge isn't totally accurate but i haven't had a full tank yet so a little hard to tell.

went and got the exhaust done in maddington, stock standard liberty one, cost me $170 and the temp on the way there was fine, ran fairly well but was leaking fuel!!!
ahh
picked it up yesterday and was pissing out of the bottom of the fume cannister. check my fuel line positioning with Guy and mine were different so changed them but now the car won't start. why would there be fuel coming out of the fume cannister?

Everything else is good though

hahahaha this happens with just about every conversion.

something to do with excess pressure (gets really bad on hot days) and CAN lead to surging. I use to leave the fuel cap on loosely so the extra fuel vapours can escape until we drilled a tiny tiny hole in the fuel cap.

what i also did is totally removed the carbon cannister and plugged up the two lines with bolts and hose clamps. Problem fixed.

cant remember the actual reason for it happening. Something about the return lines back to the fuel tank springs to mind also.

phew, not the only one then.
so should i put the fuel lines back to the way i had them when it was leaking fuel everywhere but just leave the fuel cap loose a tad? cause i changed them hoping for it to be fixed

thanks for the advice

The top metal fuel line of the three attached to the manifold is supply from your efi pump. The other two are return and breather, I can never remember which is which though. If you've got fuel in the carbon canister, the return and the breather need to be swapped over.

Fuel surge is a separate issue caused by petrol sloshing around in an unbaffled tank, that will cause the engine to stall if you're climbing a steep hill with only half a tank. Tighten your fuel cap.

No Dane... fuel surge is also caused by flooding like Keffa said... Fuel into the evap line causes surge.

hmmm well i put the fuel lines back to the way they were originally done when i did them with dave but tightened the buggery out of all the lines with a socket this time and loosened the cap a bit and it seems to of stoppped.
both fans running aswell but the temp seems to be a tad tempramental. Not overheating as such though.
Dave, is the fuel pump meant to be a tad noisy?

Cheers guys

guy's. been chasing up a company in the states over some tyres since they are much cheaper than over here. obviously the shipping is going to be a bit but tell me your thoughts/personal experiences with these tyres if any. may be an american brand not sure.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... el=Grabber AT 2&sidewall=Outlined White Letters&fromCompare1=yes&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=785QR4GRAT2OWL
(for some reason the link doesnt want to work but just punch in the tyre size 27x8.5x14 and its the only one that comes up)

so the guy sent me back this email:
If you purchase 5 tires the tire cost is $445.00 total for the tires. Plus $249.72 for the delivery, for an order total of $694.72.
This total does not include any sort of customs, duties, taxes, or brokerage you may be required to pay upon delivery.

If you purchase 4 tires the tire cost is $356.00 total for the tires. Plus $327.86 for the delivery, for an order total of $683.86.
This total does not include any sort of customs, duties, taxes, or brokerage you may be required to pay upon delivery.

also does anybody know if there are extra taxes or customs charges at my end upon arrival??
i would be saving myself around about $120 for the lot, compared to a pair of Maxxis for $208/tyre plus getting a spare!

thoughts??

guys
was having trouble with my car not starting and figured out it was the starter motor so had to keep on wacking it on the occasion it wouldnt kick over.
So finally got around to changing it last night and today it did it again. Only the once so far but its pretty inconvenient xometimes. Is this common with ej conversions? Or maybe because of the adapter plate has pushed it further back?
Also anyone have the engine stay rod bracket off the ej engine?
Cheers for the help
