reinstalling 2" lift kit

Hi, I Just started installing my old 2" lift into my new L-series , not sure if the strut lifts are in the right way!
either that arrow meant point towards front of car, or point towards passenger, i assumed it meant point to front of car.

this photo was taken on the passenger side,
red arrow points to front of car..

I haven't installed body lift yet, i didn't get the steering extension from my last L series before it was taken away to be scrapped! it was power steering so i thought i wouldnt be able to use it anyway. I Just read you can use steering knuckles of a MY and bolt them together for steering extenion for a brumby, would work for an L series too, surely?!

I'm 100% sure that the arrows are to point inwards towards the engine. So both arrows are pointing at each other

As for the Steering Knuckle, I'd use a Outback or Forester one as they are already longer and have the same spline as your L.Series

just a quick question if i may.

Is it possible just to put 2" strut lifts in by them selves on saging standard coils with the EJ2OT engine conversion to increase axle drop when offroad? I understand about the cv angle but was assuming that sagging coils would aid with the on road angle

yep thats correct the front strut tops and the rear shock extensions

any opinions on leaving sagging coils with only the 2-3" strut lift on front for bigger tires and better flex/axle drop providing the cv angle isnt too bad?

(btw i already had to drop my rear diff 2" is this a rear body lift?)

and........

what is the max desired cv angle for the majority of driving?

P.S RogDog i dont want to hijack your thread bud, its just that after looking at yours that is the perfect height i would like mine and dont really want to go down the steering uni and body lift path on the front if i dont have to.

cool man, i got the info i needed, so hijack away! i've been driving the past few weeks with just the strut lift in, I've heard it isn't ideal, as the body lift helps ease the CV joint angle... i think...

i have started noticing slight sounds every wheel rotation. cant pinpoint it yet, im thinking CV joint under some sorta pressure, or wheel bearings..

yeah body lift is dropping stuff, like you did with your diff. oh just looked up this..

you will not achieve more droop or flex with strut lifting. I isnt possible with the way the subaru suspension is setup. It simply aids in rasing the vehicle to achieve a larger tyre size and hence improve ground clearance.

You will still cock wheels etc etc.

Yeah RogDog I have seen this little puppy. I think there might be a link on this forum called 495hp brumby. But it is definitely on youtube on the dyno. Just type in Subaru brumby and you will find it. There is also a quick doc on it.

In regards to the the strut lift, thanks Alex this I am aware of as we are all stuck with IFS and not a Live front end Like a pre 98 Hilux etc so there will be no "Flex" so to speak.
However do you think with the sagging coils, I should get back the "sag" or the “unburdened” coil drop as extra axle drop before I sky a wheel?
Basically I’m talking about the flex when you start jacking up your car for the wheels to come off the ground. Because of my conversion and heavy tricked up Auto box there is quite a lot of sag and my coils are under quite a lot of preload.

My theory is I should try to maintain this “sag” or “unburdened” coil drop and just install some bigger Tyres after a 2-3”strut lift. I am even thinking 4” which will sag to probably equivalent of a 2.5” - 3” strut only lift by the time the extra sag arrives.

What are your thoughts on this method of manipulation of my front end to achieve my desired outcome?

oh by the way, that was a rigoli brumby, ran a 9sec pass i think...it doesnt exist anymore, was destroyed in a warehouse fire apparantly.
