some drivers should be shot

Post by steptoe » Sun Jul 04, 2010 12:14 pm

Man, last night, approaching a two lanes turn right onto highway and the guy in front in dark green Honda or Toyota already in a turn lane trying to get into mine. He has no lights on three hours after sundown, I don't let him in as he can turn in his lane. I take the oportunity to shout at him -NO LIGHTS - but he is too engrossed in a mobile phone held to his right ear in his left hand, explains why he tried to drift lanes rather than indicate. He looked really pissed at me shouting at him, disturbing his conversation. I gave him another blast as we rounded the turn and more up the highway. Fearful he may have been connected with the Triads I desisted, he turned up the other highway, still in total darkness

sadly it is the norm these days bad drivers endanger you and when abused for their poor driving skills take it to a whole new level of road rage.

I was on a roundabout not too long ago and an older woman just drove her late model commode into the roundabout gave me a dirty look then drove on at the next intersection I told her to watch her driving (I was polite but loud) and she told me to f@!# off

I really wish I had a passenger with a video camera for every idiot I see out there
I would have at the least 400 hours of video for a documentary series called when idiots drive (in the last 2 years alone)

Sometimes when I am daydreaming at the lights, (as you do) the lights turn green and I am a bit slow to drive off and sure enough, someone behind gives a toot to wake you up and get you moving. So this is how things are done in Toowoomba I thought.

So I'm behind a couple of blokes in a commodore at the lights and they turn green, so he wasn';t moving and I gave him a toot on the horn. Hey, I'm in Toowoomba, that's what they do to me.

Well the driver looks at me in his rear vision mirror and gives me the bird. Well to me, its like a rattle snake saying "back off buster" and not that I am too worried at 6'1" and 130kg, but its just not worth it these days to get a knife in your guts and a hammer over your skull over a green traffic light. So I just drift along now and try to ignore all the F''''wit drivers out there. But I hear what you're saying.

That would be a lot of passengers!

Seriously though, I feel your pain in a different way - the other day I got stuck behind 2 cars - the first a kia van people mover thing second was a range rover diesel sport (wtf? diesel sport!), he was stuck behind the van.

Ok so it was a snow covered road, 2wd's needed chains which he had on. The thing that pissed me off was that at every opportunity to move over and let others past he didn't do it. So we sat behind him at a max of 15km/h for the next 10kms! The rangie guy let me passed just before the tree line and waved a "wtf?!" at the van that was holding us up.

I managed to pass him then thought I'd been pinged by the cops for speeding because we were in a 40km zone at that point and I'd forgotten about the speed limit as it had been 80 - and the van guy literally stopped in the middle of the road for no apparent reason, so I passed him only to see the cops come around the next bend (right hand for me) with their lights on. I thought I was done so did the right thing and pulled over at the next chain fitting bay, which was where I thought the cop car was sitting watching me. 5 minutes later no cop so I kept going, only to be caught up behind this guy in the van again less than 2 minutes down the road.

Again couldn't pass and I knew he was hanging on to his chains being fitted until the next chain fitting bay where his hire chain company would remove them for nix. Even then when turning right into a very busy fitting area he cut off on coming traffic almost causing an accident.

I was glad to see that van in my rearview mirror!

We need more driver education in australia!! That and better english testing for migrants. There was a rollover near Omeo on the great alpine road, 1 dead several in sever condition in hospital. None of them spoke english which didn't help out the emergency services. I've been in this situation before and it is very difficult to help someone out when you have a language barrier!

I'll leave off here...

Cheers

try driving a tour coach around in it with 48 people on fun and games , and they look at you as if you have done some thing wrong

Also had a nasty experiemce a few weeks back on a dark road. Some redneck way behind with huge driving lights piercing my flippin' retina, I switch mirroe to reduce glare but it is side mirrors too, so I tap my brake light as in HEY DICKBRAIN, switch my lights off totally as we are in floodlit zone, and then to the extreme, come to a complete stop, still no reduction I continue to a pont it is impossible to drive as he gets closer, as I slow to pul over a one eyed dirty Diesel Jackuparoo pulls out from behind the offender and then stops in front of me, DICKBRAIN behind me on the side of the road. Thought better of the situation and took off to be stopped at traffic light at end of road. They both pulled over again behind and in front, wondering if I actually knew these tossers, stopped off to put an end to the crap, grabbed my steering lock, started to get out to try to read number plate an they nicked off with illegal u turns across median strip.

Lookin' out for the plate in my travels

Maybe everyone should carry a "special tool" to "adjust" the attitude of the dipsh!t that cuts up the curbside, stops in front of you, then jumps out with his mate and sticks his head in your window to tell you he's going to put you in hospital for not getting out of his way when he was trying to do something stupid and dangerous.

Mostly the new batch of P platers in new cars seem to think the "P" is to notify all older more experienced (and more courtious) drivers that they are "priviledged", or "premium", or "perfect" or something. They need to realise the "P" is to alert other drivers that they don't know how to drive yet and have no experience, which they tend to demonstrate quite well.

There needs to be a lot more respect shown on the road, "respect" for the life and wellbeing of other people we're driving at or following. I've always believed that you can't demand respect, you have to earn it, but on the road I think I'm starting to demand it. Yes, I definitely think I am... Actually no, I'm DEFINITELY starting to DEMAND younger or less experienced drivers RESPECT the crap out of MY right to safety and the safety of my kids in the back seat. And if they decline the invitation to show some respect, I suggest they go bleed profusely on the side of the road all by themselves...
Steve.
