Brumby front cut export
Its actually faux sheep skin on the seats - and I am pretty hissed off actually gutted really gutted - as I had my eye on them for my truck ever since Trev sent me the first images of the cut back in OZ. I even kept schtum about about my love for them so not to make anyone jealous enough to go and nick them before the ship set sail. But alas they are proper knackered!:(78sti wrote:It's a little difficult to see through the window but is that aussie sheep skin on the seats? I can't think of anything else that would be made in australia.
Even they may be made in NZ?
hey ho there you go...........
But sorry its not the seat covers.

my wife picked up a set of custom made (second hand) sheep skin covers for 100 Australian sheckles
Im sure there is a set waiting for you somewhere and if not go visit a neighbours farm and liberate a set from some of his sheep (they won't mind it is summer)

Hey there Scooby folks - we finally have a winner !olddog642 wrote:Hey Giles,

Hylton has correctly guessed the identity of the Aussie item in the piccy's.
The item was in fact the tin of LANOTEC freeing agent.

Well done mate.......as competition rules clearly state that the winner must pay for all travelling and accomadation expenses involved....it just leaves me to ask when exactly would you like to come over and claim your free Curry and Beer(s) ?
You are more than welcome here:)
Alternativley I could eat the Curry and drink the beer and email you to say how good it was?? this will be a lot cheaper for you and will save you quite a round trip. Just let me know if this is preferable to you.
Yes - regards the fixing bolts, some are missing and we also noticed that the set up appears to be out of line.
Hey ho we are starting with a clean sheet so to speak so no doubt we will have to make and adjust along the way and as we get into the job!
I have added some images of the winning Tinnie:)
Also of the Brumby - where it is now.
And of the miss alingnment of our a/c system.
If anyone spots any feature of it that we should be aware of please let me know as information is king.
BTW-
Those with hawk eyes may spot in the far distance on one of the shots a structure on the sky line.....That is the famous Stoodley Pike memorial.
Built in 1856 (finished that is) it stands a 121 feet tall and is 1,300 ft above sea level. Constructed from local stone it was built to commemorate the end of the Crimean war.
This means that the Brumby will be around maybe 1150 - 1200 above sea level.
Cheers for now
Giles.

Right
Okay Giles,
you got the right idea for the curry and beer but you better make it a bottle of Newcastle Brown and oh please chill it a little first as we still have not gotten used to beer at room temp even if the the room is 5 degree Celsius
Hey that sure looks like a loverly spot with the rolling hills in the background and a pleasant summers day
Oh bugger I would dearly love to visit but if I leave here they may not let me back in
Have great day

Hey there Hylton - I will be having 'your' curry on Saturday evening - i felt that it would be just wrong to keep you waiting:D I prefer Golden Champion summer ale to Newkie Brown (that stuff is somtimes known as wife beater over here!) Golden Champion is served chilled from the fridge mmmmmnice.olddog642 wrote:Okay Giles,

Its the cask ales that are served 'warm' - not really warm but deffo not chilled as they loose their flavour.
I'll let you know just how good it was heheh !:D Maybe send you a piccy hehe!:D:D
You may like to check out the attached images of my Scooby truck taken last week - you can get a better view of that area above Hebden Bridge.
Its very nice up there and only about 6 miles away - similar where I live but a bit more built up.
I am sure you could get a pass to come over - UK is a great place to visit (except right now as its totally hissing it down electric storm going off here tonight - like big style!):(
Cheers

Hi Giles..I spoke with the previous owner of the brumby front cut today at work. Got a bit more of the story. He is a mechanic with the Toowoomba Regional Council. The air con wasn't working whilst he had car and he said that he didn't think it even had a belt on it.
At some time after purchasing the ute, it started leaking water out of one of the head bolts and apparently needed a new block as the water was coming from the bolt hole in the block. He sourced an MY wagon at an auction, he thinks about an 83 or 84 what you would call an estate. Here it would be called say, an 84 touring wagon. The heads had been damaged in the wagon from a crash but he said the block had not long been rebuilt and there was paperwork to that effect with the smashed wagon. He took that block from the wagon and put his heads on it from the brumby front cut and made up the motor that is in there now. He said it was good strong little motor but although he reinstalled the air con hardware, he never actually gassed and ran it. Doesn't mean that its no good, but as you say, you would have to start from scratch with it anyway, inspect re gas etc. If there are any problems with it, let me know and I'll source parts for you if required but it should all be there. . As I said, my air con turned up here and was a hotch potch of parts from different cars but its real good and runs nice and cold.
I have been asked to do an article for the Subaru Qld car club Magazine on this venture so I may have to source a couple of photos up the track a bit, I don't think I kept them all. A lot of people have followed this project with interest and still are. But the upside is that Mal who owned the car, said it was a great little runner and loved it until someone hit him up the arse with a Subaru Forrester of all things.
Cheers
Trevor

Hey Trevor,
Thanks for the extra info from your friend Mal.
Its useful to know that the engine should be good, the evidence so far as we can see suggests that it was well looked after. We are most likely to put the cut brumby engine & gearbox into Scruffy and put Scruffy's entire drive line into Scooby as we strongly suspect that its only done 23,000 miles circa 40k kms!
We then hang onto it all the new goodie bits scoobs got and the a/c system and whalla!
Mal is correct in that there was no drive belt on the system.
It looks like the cut has had a new radiator on it at some time recently, so thats going on Scooby too.
We are looking at grafting the front lower cross member and valance onto Scruffy as well, so we will be making good use of whats there.
Hey - no probs in helping you with the info you need for your write up for the queensland subaru club. Just let me know what you need. Happy to oblige its the least I can do for you after all you have done for me!
Just so you know my vacation is July 25 to Aug 8th. so I will be off the air so to speak!
Cheers
Giles.
