steptoe wrote:what size 'tank' are you getting 500km to ? :)
a standard brumby tank which according to the FSM is 55 litres and as per my filling methods there is always a couple of mm on the fuel gauge when I fill up. and remember that 500+ is from a analogue device that is + or - 2km/h minimum inaccurate when new :)

to go by the litres/100km method I put in 31 litres and traveled 340 km (city and hwy)

L/100km = number of Litres x 100 / number of kilometres.

(31x100) /340= usage

3100 / 340 = 9.1176470588235294117647058823529

and considering I like to upset bigger 4wds, ford and commodore drivers at sets of lights I'm pretty happy with that

if I drive like a council worker on his way to the job the economy is way better

That is very impressive fuel economy, especially for driving around town with AWD. I saw 9L/100km once when i drove to Mildura, and never again. My H6 will do your 340km with 54 odd litres. Maybe i should start looking for an EJ to carb and stick in the Leone wagon? Glad you've done the hard yards to work it all out anyway!

Cheers,
Rhys

I wouldn't bother with a carby, my Liberty with the STI motor gets roughly 10kl per litre in the city and 750 kl to a 60L tank on a country run.....And it should pull a high 12sec next time at the drags..

Tom.. aren't you running 4.44 diffs? I find it hard to believe you'd get 750kms out of 1 tank. It would be awesome if you do. I'm thinking that 12.5km/ltr is bloody magic from an EJ20T.. I hope mine in the L does that well.

Yeah it's a pretty freaky car, 570 - 600 city driving giving it a fairly hard time and I did a trip south filling it in Ozzy Pk, touring around Mandurah, Bunbury, Bussleton, Margaret River, Yallingup then back up the coast to Mandurah where I couldn't find any 98 and the fuel light hadn't been on that long so I made it to the servo that was at the end of the freeway near the big roundabout, had 732Kl on the dial and took 57.2L from memory.......I was shitting myself for the last 30kl I can assure you and most of that trip I was sitting on 130ish.:p
I guess that's the beauty of having a stock computer and a good inlet and exhaust otherwise stock, also the V3 STI is so effortless it's not like driving a WRX, I doubt that blue thing woukd get 450 - 500kl on a good day to a 60L tank because you have to drive it so much harder to get it to move, though I've just bought a V2 STI RA computer for it so hopefully it'll drive better when I plug it in,
Oh, and yes 4.44's haha

Jules just better let you know, I have been asked to fill out an 'Invoice' to cover the export of your bits, then they want 4 copies (keep the pen pushers happy I suspect !)

I'm doing this over this weekend and will get these upto Pete's place for Monday, he can then get the parcel on its way to you.:)

I'll note this down as a gift ;)

Keep you informed......

hey TOONGS, get your Brumby over a weigh bridge when you get the chance will you please for a comparo. I have.

84 Brumby AC and front bumper removed to compensate for the 15kg bullbar
EA81 with twin carbs
L series five speed
80l useable LPG tank less than quarter
gas converter
gas mixer
stereo
cruise control
air horns
stratos seat
sports bar
bit of coin under mat

comes up as 1180 until I step off

1100kg

been getting better economy of late - 10.2litre per 100km on gas! 2/3 rds the power of an EJ?

Geez Jonno.. imagine the extra weight you'd save if you dropped out the cruise control and air horns.

You'd understand why I have wanted turbo this baby for a while now - the cruise will have to come off if I can't fit a vacuuum pump. Still trouble seeing how an EJ AWD Brumby owner claims 900kg with him in it?

Hey Jules,
You'd better add another 2kgs to that weight too ! - 'cause your Christmas pressie should have been collected today by Santa's little helper from TNT:mrgreen:
I took the 'paper work' upto Pete's place this morning, and he said he would get it booked for collection today (Monday 6th Dec).
When you get the parcel you may find that the sender is Electro Power Engineering - that's Pete's company so you now have his name for reference:D

Looking good mate.

Oh and Paul - Bet your hoping for rain today ! It's looking like 1:0 to me mate !

Cheers
