What a difference an inch makes.........she said

Ever since I fitted the new Dobinson springs to the car the torque steer feel I had under the slightest acceleration & deceleration just got worse to the point I didn't enjoy driving the car, it was all over the place & pretty scary on the freeway so first I tried a wheel alignment...No difference, 60mm lift to the front of the lateral? arms instead of 25mm...No difference, 50mm lift to rear mount points instead of 25mm to front swing arms...No difference, another wheel alignment & disconnect all sway bars...No difference but the wheel aligner suggested I try to get the rear wheels back as all the arms were pointing forward instead of straight out so I talked Seagull into lengthening a spare set he had by 25mm & at the same time lengthening the front sway bar links by 25mm.........first I fitted the longer front sway bar links, they are the steel ones with knuckles off a later GD Impreza...No difference so before & after spending a week in hospital I fitted the rear arms & just finished...IT WORKS, car feels just like driving a WRX again, absolutely perfect so if you are having problems after a lift this is probably the cause.
Depending on front clearance I should be able to go much bigger in the tyre department too.

Before..... after fitting the new springs the tyres were rubbing on the back of the skirts lol.

Yeah all 4 are Dobinsons ( I had them in when we were at the pines & last time at the beach) but the front Forester struts must be shorter than the Outbacks because there would be twice the spring pressure in them but not the same amount of lift, though they are very comfortable on the std Foz struts.........KYB maybe next though I don't really see the need yet.

Looks like a weapon now Tom...WRX for around town stuff with a bit of ground clearance for the weekend is the ideal setup imo!

Got a build list at all...just for interest's sake while im sitting here in the office today staring at a PC screen... ;)

Done a few things since then but not really in the mood for typing, I've still got the Liberty for around town, mush faster & a lot more economical, from memory I blew the doors off your STI in it many years ago near the UWA on a night cruise lol.

roflol....stock/restricted/heavy AUD WRX vs lighter liberty plus JDM motor conversion and free flowing exhaust - id hope that you would "blow the doors off it"....

Im happy with my Bug now, turns tires at the track and after a couple of mods left Pauls 22B standing still

Yeah I remember having a play with the 22B a few years ago on a cruise & there was virtually nothing in it, thought yours was a STI Chrus? you still got that CAI like I made about 5yrs ago?

Seriously - the polly pipe was the best thing I did...stock air box plus STi paper filter (use anything really...) and a half an hour with ya favourite bevy....We tested both setups with a hub dyno while tunning the ECU. Made more torques on the stock box with polly pipe than big cone filter. Needless to say thats how it continues to run :D

haha, yeah the Kiwi site I got it off was brilliant but I've never found it since, was about all the Subi world record holders & making cheap mods like bell mouths etc.
