Can I suggest, if you go down the road of rebuilding the 81, don't skimp on ANYTHING
I mean, buy new pistons, new conrods, bearings and rings of course, get crank linished, heads faced, maybe valve job if yours are stuffed, rebuild or replace carb with a new one...Don't try and get away with the minimum of spend, I did and you only have to read my rebuild thread to see where that ended
Also the usual stuff like don't rush, be patient, if you have to wait a week for a tiny part to arrive then wait don't try and push on without it. But I'm sure you know all that

Didn't have time to use the chemytech today (Another week). What i did learn is of course my battery was flat so i charged it. Eventually it turned over, i then disconected the charger and let it idle for 20 mins or so. I then turned it off and tried to turn it back on, NOTHING. I have filled it with distilled water and left it charging overnight. I was told if nothing tomorrow, check the alternator (which i think is ok) if not its a dead battery

Depends on what you get I guess. As a rough idea, I got my bores honed, crank linished, new rings and bearings, plus an engine block gasket set (not head gaskets) for $190. Depends where you go too most likely, I went to a local engine shop. Took it all in one morning and got it back the same day. You will most likely need a re-bore though, for the new pistons.

Definately going to rebuild the EA81, its just a matter of when (probably most of it will get done during the christmas holidays). Time to start collecting parts. The upgraded version rather then standard. New pistons, no idea where to get them. Im hoping most can be bought at Autobarn. All advice and tips much aprichiated. Im now off to look at Silverbullets thread and learn as much as i can. Hopefully lunch doesn't end too soon.
Cheers Cam
