And the use of higher octane fuels. I was filling up at Caltex in bright and read a sticker on the pump:

Fuel octane rating: Suitable for: What it does:
98 Vortex All engines Cleans as you drive, added performance
95 Vortex All engines Cleans as you drive
91 regular Check manufacturer's recommendations before using

Bullshit bullshit bullshit!

Totally agree Bennie.

That message on 91 reads that they really are detering you from buying 91- more revenue.

I can remember many years ago petrol stations went from full driveway service to self serve and promised 2 cents a litre off. (when price was much cheaper of course)

naturally that didnt last long.

bit like supermarkets now introducing self screening of groceries- wtf? why would we do their work for them? and who is going to lose their job when we all do this, or forced to do this?

off topic a bit, (I'm on a roll here) the movie "I,robot". stars ewen McGregor, about clones. he pisses in a dunny and automatically his urine is tested for illnesses he is carrying. sounds great. in the future I bet, if this happens, we will pay for it- a convenience cost.

just cheeses me off how we pay for things - the cost of living....just breathing!

I've been running my EA81 Brumby on 95 since I started driving it in August and it's been fine until yesterday. I went to fill it up but the servo had no 95 - only 98 or 91. I couldn't bring myself to pay for the 98 so I got 91 and it's now started running on when I turn off the ignition. Not sure if it's coincidence as I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

yeh David, my trike, regardlessof the dyno tune was definately pinging today going up a hill in top at 60kph.

the timing is about 8 degrees. its on 91 octane. I could jump to 95 but took the quick way out and backed off the timing to 6 gress, not much at all. pinging gone- for now.

if this helps.

Thanks for that Tweety. I'll have a look at the timing next week hopefully.

Cheers
