I went through a huge ordeal trying to find leads to fit my EJ20J engine, finally found some NGK leads which were the only aftermarket leads to fit! Got them from Bursons.

Genuine leads I'm sure are very good but $43 each???

Do you know what model engine you have? I'm guessing EJ202?

Yeah cars are a great way to lose heaps of money lol

AFAIK the engine's the same regardless of the car its in, I think you have an EJ202. it will be on your compliance plate. Does it have 4 straight coil ends or are 2 right angled? The end of the lead that goes on the coil...

im pretty sure itll be an EJ201, thats whats in my liberty. I think they feel abit more pokey than an EJ202.

try a different parts supplier, we have a joint in WA called veales who deal parts to mechanics and i have no doubt theyll be able to find leads for less than $43 ea. SCA are a bunch of useless kids and only worth buying LEDs and neons from.

You will be able to get them after market! As Alex has said forget supercrap and autoblah, you need to find a mob actually deals with parts with proper catalogues and suppliers.

My local is independent and are great with finding parts when I need them - only when they can't actually find an aftermarket item that's easily available they'll give me a call to get approval of ordering in a genuine item... Good service there too.

Cheers

Does anyone think the coil could have something to do with it?

I would have replaced all the leads. Coil would cause issues but the coils are extremely reliable.

You'd better hope not. I've been quoted $800+ genuine for mine, $400+ cheap chinese crap! :(

What did the old plugs look like? They tell a story of whats happening inside your engine. If all 4 plugs are fouled, could be the coil. Could aslo be other things too...

Also, I agree, I'd be replacing all the leads.

and the air flow meter,
I've gone thru about 4 of them over the years
doesnt take much to piss them off...
if you do plugs, make sure you put platinum plugs back in!
not cheapies....

speaking of which, my car needs a good service, oil and filters done....should get onti it,
have a good weekend fellas

Are you running an aftermarket air filter? like the oiled ones?

Do you have any codes?

Do you have a friend with a similar car that you could try parts off?

Not at all bud.. it's no probs. Just stick your head under the steering column and behind the dash panel, you should see 2 black plugs (and 2 green ones but we don't need those unless your 'Check Engine' light is one?) once the black plugs are joined, turn your ignition on so the dash lights all come on (at this stage you should hear the radiator fans cycling) and then count the flashes on the 'Check Engine' light. 1 long flash = 10 and 1 fast flash = 1. So if you had an issue with say your Air Flow Meter, you'll end up with 2 long flashes followed by 3 short flashes (23). These are codes in memory and hopefully we might find something that is shonky.
