liberty running rough when taking off. any suggestions?

Post by hypoman » Thu May 17, 2012 10:34 am

hi guys. just picked up a liberty, its a 1992 model with 300,000k's on it.

the car is missing when taking off or under load.
Ive checked the plugs and they look very clean and in good nick.
air filter did not appear to be blocked.

any suggestions?
It feels like its electrical, like a bad lead or something.

can anyone suggest what this could be?
do these engines have a common problem, like a sender/sensor that needs a clean/brush every now and again? do the leads crap out on them? (new ones are $90 so im trying to elliminate things before replacing them).

any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Have you checked for codes? Try this thread to get your codes.

I'm thinking it's a knock sensor of fuel pump... At a guess.

Yes, check the codes.

Talking of fuel it could be just the fuel filter in the engine bay.

With the leads you can check them with a multi meter, they should be in the range of 5K to 11K ohms.

As above.. check the resistance of the HT leads ;)
