diagnostic codes/procedures are in the book.mr_sp33 wrote:Also attended to an ABS light that had been on since i bought it. Although i cleared the code (Code 23 FR sensor, ground out the unit until he HCU resets) the ABS light is still on. When i check the codes though it only displays a startup code (11) which i thought is always displayed?
Anyone know where i can find a diagnostics procedure for a 97 Legacy?
I haven't taken it for a test drive yet to see if the ABS is functioning again, i'm just assuming it's not because the light is on.

Haha, i can't afford to get caught speeding.Chris_Rogers wrote:good to see you are having fun with it. dont get too carried away on the freeway with it 100-200 is about 3 seconds..
Turns out the front right sensor cable is rubbing on the tyre, and has rubbed through, so i'll replace the sensor hopefully that clears the codes
I've been in Japan for the last few weeks for a holiday and picked up some brochures while i was over there... I collect old car literature (I'm a wierdo, haha).
Anyway, found some oldschool Subaru love! Maybe someone on here might get a kick out of it!

Nev, someone is calling you (and a few others) - a weirdomr_sp33 wrote:... I collect old car literature (I'm a wierdo, haha).
My oldest piece is a diagnostic flow chart for better engine operation from an American magazine - 1924
Got a kick out of it. Gees, you didn't think to get it translated while you were over there did you?
I brought back quite a bit of literature, so i didn't even think to get it translated, but i plan on studying Japanese next year... So maybe i'll translate it then.. Watch this space! haha.steptoe wrote:Nev, someone is calling you (and a few others) - a weirdo

What i brought back:
Heading to the monthly downshift meet if anyone wants to come say hey, ill be in the battle wagon :P
On a side note, i replaced the damaged ABS sensor re-checked the codes and the opposite side tripped it this time... I checked the resistance like it states in the diagnostics procedure and got nothing, so time to replace that sensor as well!

Well, was looking the car over to make sure nothing obvious would fall off tonight.
Then i realised the alt+pwr str belt was on its last legs. I dunno how id missed it before this...
Once i took it off, the bottom half of the belt still looked ok.. So every other im i've opened the bonnet the motor must've stopped with the good half facing up, lol.
Anyway, new belt installed. If all goes well, i'll have vids of how i go tonight! What do you guys reckon, old leone wagon... 19 second 1/4?
:P
