Front Wheel Bearings Brumby

Post by PocketRocket86 » Mon Jan 21, 2013 10:51 am

Hey all,

A bit of a query, apparently the front wheel bearings have all about gone in my little 1990 Brumby. I was wondering how much time this should take and what it should cost as the subaru guy I have taken him to is quoting me about $400 each.... That seem's a little high....

Thoughts?

The bearing kits - you need to make sure you are getting bearing kits for the 82 to 84 4WD and or 4WD Brumby 82 to 94 so you get correct inner seals.

About $50 a kit on ebay me thinks each side. So there is about $100 and he is gonna wanna make something on that

$400 each !!
Maybe an hour aside to someone who knows what they are doing and at 100 bucks an hour $300 total would sound a fair price.

Seems very high but it is a horrible job. I would make some calls to some other workshops and see how the prices differ. I'd also ask if they are quoting with genuine or aftermarket parts? If you get it done, ask them to keep the boxes for you and tear off the lid, then write how many kms was on the clock and stick it in your service book for future reference.
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
