XT turbo eh?? Nice score! :) Good condition? Right price? We need pics!

As for my Subie, on the old wagon I removed a few more parts including the radius rod/gearbox x-member mounting plates so I can clean the firewall easier. That CV grease and dirt is absolutely everywhere! :( I might need to invest in a little sand blaster to make life alot easier when it comes to painting underneath.

And on the Brum I replaced the tacky red and fake carbon fiber plastic gear knob with the nice round grey sphere from the wagon. Was a job getting the plastic lump off; the collar covering the grub screws was super glued on, and the knob itself was completely filled with brown contact adhesive! The threads were totally glued up, spent 15 minutes cleaning the thing up!
Will it ever end!?

3/87 compliance plate date crystal mint greeny outside , spew brown inside, FWD 5 speed. Procrastinator in me says "rebuild it Jonno chuck in the 4WD stuff from the GLTA", other side says "its a parts hoarder for self". Don't go due to serious water intake. Was spotted by a mate, so no advertised, not much competition :)
Last rego sticker was 2001,

Fitted a Vortex driver seat into my L sedan, bolt up at front first no redrilling. At the back bracket there is a gap - of 70mm between bracket and mount hole for outer bolt, so a spacer bracket needs to be made up and a 10mm wedge to fit between rail and L floor drivers side.

The inner mounting holes similar so really need to make up a spacer bracket that bolts to original floors mounts and support seat rails to make it all safe, tidy and secure. The seat has not got height function in good order so slips down, down to floor level :(

Is all good though, the depression in the rear of the bucket seat gives more leg room for pigmys in the rear and I have more leg room in front.

The firmness of the seat and its sporty side supports give body a greater feed back of the car over the lounge chair style from the touring wagon, lower centre of gravity - corners better :) Need to do LHS to match

The rails don't swap over between the L's seat and the Vortex seats?

That would have been the first thing I looked into ;) Simply for simplicity of the mod.

Cheers

simply is the word not in Fuji's dictionary with this task. They are all nicely riveted. Just thanking my lucky stars the fronts line up all nice and that :)

Started thinking back to the two year long project to get '90Mazda626 seats in the Brumby, cutting out the guts, height adjuster, this and that - had the seats sitting over my bath for that long ! Pwor! What is that smell ? Seat burning from the stick welder :D Not again

tipped a bottle of nulon lifter tune into my 92 wagon. let it run for about 15mins(sounded like the little man with the hammer in there just swapped for something way bigger).
Took her out for a spin rattled for @ 20 kays, then silence.
Next mornin that prick with the hammer back for about 30 sec, then silence.
next morning dead cold, silence.
been 3 days now no noise, my lifters where terrible was about to do the whole oil pump and new lifter route. hoping like hell this keeps things quiet for a while

cheers hainesy

Installed aftermarket (well my father in law pretty much did) keyless entry system to my outback gen3. Original keyless entry wasn't working, ended up wiring up one off ebay and works great!

Installed a mobile phone holder from REPCO for $39.00 into the L series.
I have put the iPhone 4 into it but at the moment I cant get it to play via the stereo.
It is supposed to connect to the stereo so iTune music can be heard and when the phone rings the music cuts out and the unit is hand free.
At least it holds the phone so getting a fine wont happen.
Also put new spark plugs into the car cos the old ones have been in there for about 15 thousand ks

Interesting - I didn't realise they could do that, pretty awesome!

Yesterday I confirmed that I really need to swap the front tyres and retire my stock of the Wild Conquerors :( Sad times...

Cheers

I lost the ability to select reverse in the Brum yesterday, and I didn't even think the shifter was that sloppy! So today I went about fixing this with some bushes I had spare. Got down there and noticed the nut and bolt mod was already done and done up bloody tight but the selector fork still flopped around more than I've ever seen. Unbolted the fork and removed it and OH MY GOD! Somebody had done the old cut the tube to clamp down better trick, but looks like they gouged it out with a chisel! No kidding the slot was about 3mm wide, wavy and uneven :( I promptly dropped that in the bin and got the fork from the wagon, with a .5mm slit down one side only (which I'm not happy with either, but wasn't me who did it) And bolted that up...still bloody loose :(

If I took the bolt out and slid the tube all the way down, the tube was still incredibly loose on the selector shaft...this is not right at all it should be a snug fit IMO. Anyway I had no other choice but to re-assemble it as is and hope for the best. Luckily it tightened it up just enough to get reverse, but I'm still really unhappy with how loose it is. But because the selector fork tube is far too loose on the shaft, there is nothing I can do to get it any tighter...
Will it ever end!?

You could try welding it like the muppet did to the one in my Brumby, left a nice lump to slam the seal every backwards shift, causing it to leak soon after I bought it. Love the five speed L boxes :)

That slot is one of the main bits of the conversion that fixes the issue. The wider and longer the slot on both sides the easier it will clamp fully onto the selector shaft with the bolt.

Also drilling out the hole on the selector shaft to a larger one (not too big though! - and do the same with the tube!) with a larger bolt will also eliminate slop. Do the slot and bigger bolt trick is a sure fire way to get rid of this problem for some time. After that it's 5 speed time

Mine already had the bolted slot , the weld may have been an after repair - and that box was supposed to be a low km jap import just before I bought it in 98 :(
