Well I've spent the last few weeks cutting chassis rails off the old rusty Brumby I had to replace the chassis rails from my good Brumby. These had the strut towers cut off and rewelded, plus the previous owner had cut out notches for the DOHC motor and there were a few other bits and pieces that needed fixing so I figured it would be easier and better to use some that didn't need all that work. Got these to fit the Brumby body better than the other ones as well :)

So I put the new chassis rails on the crossmember and put the engine and box in place as well - there is 75mm clearance from the front of the engine pulleys to the back of the Brumby radiator. Heaps of room for an EJ but really needs custom radiator to mount in the same spot as the Brumby one.

Now the rotary motor is 25mm longer than the EJ and the gearbox adapter is 20mm - so that leaves 30mm clearance still - I might just be able to squeeze it in after all.

And now that I have the RS and its stealing all my good bits from this Brumby I think I might change direction ever so slightly.

The RS is going to be my fun daily driver with a bit of power, a bit of handling and some good looks. And I have bought a hatchback Torana and that will be built along the lines of a circuit car so will have andling as its priority.

And that will leave the Brumby free to be more of a straight line weapon. So the plan now is to run an auto with aftermarket controller and paddle shifters. I want to put a 4 point roll cage in the tray so I thought I may as well run a rear mounted radiator and revisit the rotary motor idea.

Yeha well its been 40 odd degrees up here for the last 2 weeks or so so I haven't had the motivation to do anything............:(

Are these what you've use to build it ? Also did you find any scale differences between 1:24/25 ?

P.S. - I've also been tyring to find out if they made a late model Brumby, but no luck so far ... :(

One of those WRX's (the bottom one I think) is no good as the engine is molded as part of the body and the bonnet doesn't open so the top of the engine doesn't exist :(

Yeah there is quite a bit of difference between 24 & 25:1. Mostly noticeable in the 4WD tyres and rims ............... Should really look for a set of 25:1 rims.

I have completed a ********* conversion to my Brumby but have been told the 15'' wheels are to big to get it over the WA Pits. Does anyone have the anser

15's will be fine - just need to keep the overall diameter of the tyre no more than 25mm taller than the standard 175/70/13.

195/50/15 is 0.8mm taller.
215/45/15 is 0.7mm shorter.

Or you can go to a 215/50/15 which is 20.8mm taller

too big in which way ? 15" rim, the tyres nominal overall tyre diameter or offset

From memory a 195 50 15 is 577mm NOTD and is within the 15 up 26 down allowances, 205 50 15 is 587mm. The important thing is knowing the NOTD of the 175.75.13 or whatever tyre is on the tyre placard of the car

Too big because license dept over here only allows you to go 1 size up in rim diameter unless you get an engineers report. Most police patrol cars leave you alone unless they are sticking outside the wheel arches.

Hutchy17.. just go over the pits with a set of 14" 5 stud rims and change once you've been over. Keep the 14s as spares for next time you need to go over ;-)

Yeah - from 2003 in the GT and 3.0 models.

I'm just a bit worried about it though 'cos $325 is too bloody cheap. But the ad says its working and comes with a 12mth unlimited km warranty. We shall see.........................
