only grease used on calipers is supposed to be a silicone grease on the sliders ? Or do the front handbrakes get grease inside the boot?

The brake discs and pads replaced, wheel bearings replaced... then when I was going to test it out the fuel pump stopped working suddenly :S. I measured the voltage and it only received 6v to the pump. It seems to work fine if I put 12v directly to it. I'm starting to wish I had bought the complete service manual by now :P

It sounds like your subi is at the point of needing some TLC - unfortunately a lot of people give up on their old trusty at this point! I almost did, now she's gone from strength to strength thus far!

Cheers

I use a high temp copper grease on the sliders. I also use grease on the screw for the handbrake.

I would have a search on this site, as there should be a workshop manual on here. If not get in contact with Julian (TOONGA) and he'll get you one.

Sure. I also have a engine dis- and reassembly instructional videos that I found somewhere if anyone is interested. Question is how it is best to share those on the web.

Sorry for the late reply, sure I can email them to you. But I'm in a real pickle. Seems that the electric is going haywire. I can't seem to locate the malfunction to the fuelpump. Also all the window motors stopped working except for the driver side. Weird stuff is going on. It sounds like a plug has burnt out. I replaced four relays on a rack in the dashboard without luck. I sprayed deoxit into the plug for the fuel pump by the fuel tank. No luck there. Man I wish I could rip the whole thing apart and lay the wiring from scratch properly, I just really don't want to spend any more time out in the cold :(. Alot of green stuff is forming on metals all over the car (I don't know the english word for it). Maybe the whole thing is disintegrating.

think we call it verdigris, if it is forming in the wire plugs and some deoxit like sprays work well at dissolving it, just a trial and error thing. Or is it lichen like on rocks shady side ?

Do you know where the control box is for the power windows ? I think it may be under front passenger seat, under the carpet....

You may be on to something, I have been battling floods in the trunk. Maybe there's water damage under the carpet. First chance I'm lifting the carpet and look what's going on under there.

I'd also check your fusible links in the brown box near the battery. If these start falling apart strange things start happening to your electrical systems :(

Cheers

This could be as simple as the "kiddie lock" on the bottom of the 4 switches?

As for the other stuff, grab a test light and multimeter and start poking around.

Man I have the worst luck these days. I put 12V directly into the fuel pump and cranked... still nothing. Seems my suby is falling apart on me :S.

Well I think I can rule out the fuel pump since there's bunch of fuel in the fuel line, unless there something clogged in the hood.

Have you got spark? As I know in the EA82, the fuel pump wont turn over until the engine is running (or coil is active).

I'd check that the dizzy is turning over whilst cranking. I've had a few that have broken the LHS belt.

Yes I got spark. I sprayed fuel directly into the carb and it ran fine for a few seconds. Do you think the fuel pump is not producing enough pressure to reach the carb? That the fuel pump itself is giving out?

Ok. So have you pumped the accelerator and looked down the carby for fuel squirting inside?

Also, When you said you connected the fuel pump up, did you hook it up to constant 12v and it ran? how's your fuel filter looking?

No actually I poured fuel into the carb myself. No fuel enters the carb when I use the fuel pedal. I hooked the fuel pump up to direct 12v and it did not run. When I disconnected the fuel line by the pump the fuel filter didn't look dirty at first look.
